video cam for pre..
 

so ive been looking online about a vidoe recording feature for the pre, and ive read some forum that said sprint is going to have an upgrade for it sometime at the end of this year (which probaby means end of next year lol). just wanted to know if anyone heard about this or anything about video on pre for the matter. i think thats one of the only things i dont like about my pre.

It's official, you can now record video with your pre thanks to homebrew crew via a new app called Precorder.

Notes:
1) This is alpha software, it may brick your Pre. It seems stable enough though.
2) There is no preview (view finder) on the Pre of what it's recording. Best guess aiming.
3) There no distinction in the software for landscape mode. Not really a big deal.
4) Video quality seems okay, sound is bit on the soft side.

I've noticed that occasionally it will say it's recording but the file will end up being 0 kb. The developer already knows about the issue.

Yeah, it's buggy as hell. But it's an early alpha release for testing and we all know it'll just get better and better.

Be careful with that 0.3.0 version, I've been getting random luna resets since I updated yesterday.

Are your reset occurring when you're using the video app or not? My wife and I both had resets watching using the YouTube app.

I have the video app installed but she doesn't.

thank goodness i didnt install this. ive been looking at it but saw the whole alpha and brick phone and was like ehh ill wait and see what builds from this.

It's been very random and generally after I've used the video recording app.

It works though and I haven't seen a single report of a bricked Pre. If you don't really need that function, it's worth waiting till the app is more mature. Not having a "view finder" is kind of annoying.

Just noticed that Precorder has been updated to version 0.3.3, I'm OTA updating through the terminal app right now.
