because no matter whats on the screen, there are always processes running in the background. Thats the point of Palms Synergy, always updating in the background.

I am so used to my Diamond/TP and having to have chargers in my desk at work, in my car, and at home, not including sync cables for my Laptop and Netbook that I don't even notice the battery life LOL!......Get a purse :p

It's odd i can go around three days sometimes but mostly i hit 50% by the end of the night but if i do a lot online all day i'm fine but if i make a few calls throughout the day it tears through mine somedays but never as bad as my diamond or tp

Tonight I will be taking the subway to go see Monday Night RAW and will be away from a charger for approx 5 hours. Combine that with no service on the train and a congested network at the event and I should get a good battery test tonight

Re: battery life

Just put in airplane mode til u get the event.. that should help on the standby til u get there...

LOL Carla, how can you not know what that is?? ;)

I was very pleased with the battery life tonight. Was at 66% after 4 hours off the charger. Took a couple pics and a little web surfing too.

Re: battery life

Battery life for me depends on what I'm doing. On a normal business day, I have no issues going 24 hours. Mostly because I'm just getting push exchange email and occasionally doing things with the calender but for the most part it just sits at my desk all day. Battery life is much shorter when I'm constantly using it. I can kill the battery in less than 5 hours playing music or videos, surfing the web, twittering, etc. Turning airplane mode on does help a ton when I'm reading ebooks and want the battery to last.

Re: battery life

I have been usuing more of airplane mode and saving my battery. I was sitting in a bad reception area and watched the battery percentage go down while sitting there for 30 minutes. Turn airplane mode on and waited 3 hours and the battery barely moved. Searching for the networks are killing the battery for me and I even bought a 1350 battery and right now Im not getting much more life than the OEM. I have the 2600 battery but I dont like the bulk of it so it sits in my drawer. Wish there will be a fix.

Depends on which battery you get. Seidio has 2 sizes, a 1350 ma which doesn't require a bigger back plate and a 2600 ma which does require a bigger back plate.

Edit: The stock battery is 1150 ma by the way.

One of my co-workers got one for free from Dell. Pretty neat, it's basically an extra battery.

oh have you guys seen the commercial for the external energizer cell phone battery? supposedly goes in through the power/usb port and charges or powers the phone.

Re: battery life

if you're gonna go that route you may as well go for a li-ion rechargable battery pack so you dont burn through throw away batteries. i got one forever ago for my TP and works great. will recharge the tp almost twice before having to be charged itself.

I just got my Pre last night, I updated to 1.3.1. I left for work this morning with it above 95% then by lunch it was at 30% and now it's at 15%.

Re: battery life

well i think the number 1 thing that makes the batt go down so fast is searching for a signal.. or switching in and out of ev..

like for instance.. the other day had to take my 2 girls to the dentist.. was there for 4.5 hours.. i went from 100% down to 30% in the short time.. and thats with the 2600 mAh batt..

lol one room would roam. then the other room would be 1x. then the lobby would be a faint ev signal.. it was crazy..

but i do think the pre has a weak ant.. it switches from ev to 1x alot in my bathroom.. where as my previous 900 phones all kept ev..lol

While I'm not getting that type of significant decrease in battery life, I have noticed generally worse battery life with 1.3.1.

The battery life is not great on this phone, but the performance is!!! For some reason, I do not mind the battery on this phone, and to me it charges crazy fast! Maybe they will figure some tweaks to improve battery life

Mine seems to charge really fast too, as long as I'm not playing with it. If I am surfing it is slow, but it charges decently while listening to music.

There are some new patches which slow down the processor and supposedly save battery life. I think there's a dynamic one.

Re: battery life

ya just saw that on preware..i would def check those out if i still used the reg batt..

i just saw best buy black friday thing the pre will be like 79 or something for new and upgrading customers friday and sat.. thats a steal....

Re: battery life

Service and searching for service is the number one killer of your battery. Also to increase battery life turn off GPS and dim your screen.

late,
Coz

Re: battery life

I installed both (at seperate times) the smartflex 500 & 600 patch. For some reason I did not notice much of a battery difference. Battery is slightly better on the 500 patch. Put performance is super fast with the 600 patch. I really just think that battery life got worse with the webos 1.3 update.

Carla 11-29-2009 02:46 PM

Re: battery life

So you liked the 600 patch Chulo?

Carla 11-30-2009 03:37 PM

Re: battery life

I can't find the 600 patch anyways since it was removed so blah!

I saw a few posts that say the 600 might still be on the internalz wiki, any idea where I can find this? I am running the 550 right now, but I want to try the 600.

chulo12 12-01-2009 01:03 AM

Re: battery life

The 600 patch was pretty good. I am going to install it again. I had the 500 patch and periodically, my pre would freeze. It didnt happen with the 600 patch. You can find those patches on preware and quick install.

Carla 12-01-2009 01:11 AM

Re: battery life

The only patches in Preware, when I looked early today are the 500 patches. I found the 550online somewhere else and used Quick Installer.

Re: battery life

I did not know that they had a 550 patch! I will check that one out. But the 600 patch is still on preware. i just put it back on last night!

I tried and it kept giving me the IPK failure!!! Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr
