Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
+1 for me as well. I just got the Palm Pre and I'm already loving WebOS.
I do wonder though how awesome the Touch Pro would be if it ran WebOS and not Windows Mobile. |

Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
I have the TP and I really want a Pre. I like the TP, I've had the same one for about a year and it's still solid, it's slow as crazy but the phone holds up well. Anyways, I don't like WM to much, too much freezing, programs are pratically non-existant, ugly GUI and so forth but I will miss the hardware which is pretty good.
I bought WMwifirouter for it and that's great, I know the Pre isn't as reliable and as safe for tethering as the TP with Wmwifi was but Windows mobile is so sorry that I'm willing to trade it all away. I was waiting for the Otterbox case to come out for the Pre but I don't know when that's gonna happen personally. I like the TP2 but not with WM so I'm just skipping that and taking my chance on the Pre. |
Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
Wow im surprised this thread has exploded as much as it has since I first posted it months back! I haven't been here in awhile but with the new Web OS 1.4 update things have become so much smoother, faster and more stable. Video recording is great although it records in MP4 which makes huge file sizes

Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
I have one on the way and will be out town. It was also a warranty replacement for my TP.
I had a ton of apps for Windows Mobile and flash my TP as much as Pee Wee Herman at a movie theater. I use my phone more as an internet device / apps. So I will see when I get it. I have had palm devices before and liked them. |
Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
Just received my Pre as a TP replacement and loving it. So much easier to use and there is a big community behind it.
Only complaint is when it lag during application launch. |
Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
I am really shocked that you guys are happy to switch from winmo to palm os. I am not a fan. I just think it is too simplifed...not much you can do with it...maybe I am wrong but I am just not feeln it. Let me know if you guys can pimp it out. Post some screen shots would love to see this os above and beyond.

Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
I didn't really switch to the Pre but I bought one. I also purhased a TP2 shortly there after. WebOS was cool to me in the beginning, but I got a little bored with it rather quickly and there were a number of simple basic features that were just missing in the beginning, granted the OS was in its early stages (and still is). I honestly don't see WebOS being around for too long in its current state. It seems like Palm is slowly drowning in this sea of an oversaturated smartphone market.

I'm here!
Didn't switch from a TP though, currently rocking a PRE, TP2, and Samsung Moment. Man my pockets are heavy! |
Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
dont know if anybody mentioned youtube plays on tp but not treo :)
|
Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
I hope WebOS w/Pre stays around because this absolutely blows away WM. Could not be more impressed, had a TP and 3x going on four until Sprint exchanged.

Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
glad u guys are happy! we hardly ever sell palm devices...another reason it is surprising. :) cant wait to see what ppl do with this os...anybody have awesome screenshots?

Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
In search of the right phone. On this quest in 2010 I went from Palm Centro (Phone for the last year+) to HTC Hero to HTC Touch Pro 2 to Palm Pre. After a couple days it looks like I've finally found the phone I'll carry for the next year. The Pre is fast, simple and stable. Very usable phone. She's a keeper for me.

Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
Give the 800 MHz patch a try. "Try it, you'll like it!"
|
Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
I did.
I tried to use my TP again because I missed having Skype on my phone. It took me a full TWO DAYS to get the phone where I wanted it to be. Then I still had to deal with the laggy unworkability of WinMo. I switched back to my Pre. It took me 20 minutes to get fully up to speed after a full WebOS Doctor visit including reinstalling all of my patches. Pre. No Contest. nb |
Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
i did. I got a palm pre and an HTC mytouch.

Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
Verizon wouldn't upgrade me from a TP to a TP2... said they had too many people taking advantage of the system. The rep I spoke with said that roughly 75% of phones they were getting back were just fine.
So... for $19.99... I ordered the PPP. :-) can't wait to get it! <Mod Edit: Removed Sales Post> |
Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
Good luck with the PPP, if you want to sell your old device you must post in the Bargain Trader Section and follow all Bargain Trader Rules :)
|
Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
Sorry about that! I'm not up on the "rules" around here. :-) I put it in the appropriate spot.

Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
No worries :)

Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
Holy CRAP. What a nice change... not even comparable. I had to do the big update to 1.40 right away... but it didn't take too long since I was on Wi-Fi.
I LOVE the pre! EDIT: I did the 600 mHz overclock and still experiencing EXCELLENT battery life even with heavy use... plus it's faster. :-) |
Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
I made the switch as well. The Pre just works. Doesn't crash, apps open 10x faster, and etc. The only gripe I have is that it doesn't have voice command/dialing. But still, a much better "phone" than the TP.

Re: How many of you switched to the Pre from the Touch Pro?
I moved from a Palm Treo Pro to the Palm Pre. I'll never look back. Whoever calls this thing simple obviously hasn't realized there is a damn Linux operating system running on this thing! WinMo could only hope to be this customizable.
Stability... Holy. Moly. I agree that it seems 'simple', but, isn't that what we really want? There's a few things that I'd change, but, a hell of a lot less than the things I had to cook in to my ROM's. Lovin' the Pre. Battery life is amazing, 800mhz patch went flawlessly. The patches available to this thing make it the customization machine. Nothing compares. |
