Any clues as to when the Sprint TP2 will be upgraded to WM 6.5?

I am anxious to order the TP2 from Sprint now that the phones sales have started but I really don't want to install all my programs and contacts twice. ](*,)

Does anyone have a clue as to when Sprint will upgrade this baby from WM 6.1 to 6.5? Will it be on the 10/6 release date for 6.5 or later? :dontknow:

No one here can give you anthing more than a guess. You could get the same accuracy by closing your eyes and thinking of any date between now and the next 10 years lol...

The only thing you can say for certain is it will come no sooner than the 10/6 date announced by Microsoft (that doesn't count a leak if one happens).

Hopefully soon cause that means Telus would have already upgraded or won't be far behind

Does anyone remember how long it took Sprint to upgrade from WM 6.0 to 6.1 when it was released?

@NYC Guy

Release Dates >
WM6.0 > @1/26-2/11/2007
WM6.1 > 6/15/2008
WM6.5 > 10/6/2009 ?
It would appear that
@1 year & 4 months is the magic period of time for Microsoft Release Dates.
Microsoft has an October 6 release date for 6.5
If they are accurate and timely, that is when it will be available.
The question is when will the shipped devices have WM6.5
installed on them?
And if the Pro 2 will already have it installed from the first shipment?
Maybe October 6 is the projected release date for 6.5 to the public, but the devices may already have it installed prior to that date.

The HTC Touch 2 (not Touch Pro 2) is supposed to be the 1st phone to ship w/ 6.5, per Engadget

If you dig through Engadget, the Sony Xperia2 is slated to be out late 4th qtr w/ 6.5 as well.

So if you were to get the TP2 now it could be many months after the Oct. 6th release before Sprint gives us the 6.5 upgrade. ](*,)

I think you are missing the crux of my question. Sprint has stated in their press release that their TP2 will be shipped with 6.1 so I doubt that it will be shipped with the newer 6.5 OS. With 6.5 being officially released by Microsoft on 10/6 how long after that will Sprint release their official ROM upgrade for the TP2?

I missed the Sprint part.
You probably can google that which is what I did for the previous info.

Re: Any clues as to when the Sprint TP2 will be upgraded to WM 6.5?

this isnt news, its just a question....

Noone knows man, and we cant possibly have an answer... i remember it took moguls a few months to start being shipped with 6.1 on board... the upgrade ROM was certainly out WAY b4 it was coming shipped... dunno if the same can be expected... the difference here is, there are Device launches attached to this release as well...

it would only be speculation and blind guessing for any of us to tell you what will happen, in what order and in what time frame...

dont be a wuss, having to set your device back up, is simple... for your programs, start learning Sashimi, youll never set up programs again, and your contacts-well thats just a silly excuse not to try things, contacts take 30seconds to back up using activesync...

if you want a TP2, why torture yourself, just get one

Conflipper already posted the 6.5 kernal from a Sprint 6.5 rom a couple weeks ago. You would have to ask him if he can post it... probably just a test rom but at least you know they are working on it already.

Just check out the tp2 upgrade forum and read the thread about the 6.5 kernal for more info.

Yeah, NYC Guy... don't even bother. If you're on PPCGeeks you're gonna eventually start flashing ROMs and you'll probably be on WM6.5.1 before Win6.5 even comes out :)

You can use Sashimi or UC to make scripts (very easy) to install all of your programs and settings each time you flash. Read up on UC here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?p=1899755

And as for backing up your contacts... I personally use (and prefer, because of wireless sync) Microsoft MyPhone. But if you don't want to use that, you can always use something along the lines of PIMBackup.
