Touch Pro 2 specs?
Ack just realized I might have posted in the wrong forum. Mod, can you move to TP forum?
Ok, I just saw the product specs of this.. and I am wondering if I am the only one scratching my head going "wtf?" to this. Highlights TP -> TP2 Processor same clock but different model? TP2 has a older one at MSM7200. Anyone know the difference? Is it noteworthy? TP -> TP2 RAM exactly the same Touch Pro 2 is slightly heavier. Touch Pro 2 -1.6mm thick Biggest upside I see is 2.8 VGA to 3.6 WVGA TP2 reportedly a little better at call time although we can't really verify that... TP2 removes the flash light. No upgrade on camera TP2 has dual speakers/mics w/ noise cancelling. I did not see it in the specs, but I also heard something about an Audio jack on the TP2 instead of external. So besides a bigger screen and probably some better conference call experiences, not much is changed imo. I'm a current TP owner and I was reaally reaaally just hoping the next generation would do more under the hood type work in terms of ram/clock speed etc. It makes me wonder why they didn't... are we capped at this clock speed? Is this the ceiling for our current technology? What are your guy's thoughts? More than likely I will not be upgrading unless there is a special deal to TP users to make the switch. Re: Touch Pro 2 specs?
I really love my touch pro and I don't believe there are enough features for me to up-grade. The screen is nice but there would be a wait for programs to come out for that size. The one thing that I really really want is the new touchflo! Some talented people are working getting that ported so I'll be staying with my good ole pro!

Re: Touch Pro 2 specs?
I think I will wait to upgrade until the TP3 appears.

Re: Touch Pro 2 specs?
The TP2 is a joke when compared to the Omnia II.

Re: Touch Pro 2 specs?
Well from what I heard the 7200A processor consumes a little less energy and has better video playback/record.. in cases of Sprint you get CDMA/GSM which is pretty important for business users.
Another plus is the increased battery. And there is bluetooth 2.1 >.> and there is the tilt functionality... I wouldn't particularly call it the "next" version of touch pro but more of what touch pro should have been.. So probably better name for it is Touch Pro Rev2 rather then Touch Pro2 >.> There are faster processors..like the Snap Dragon which has 1ghz and new snap dragons which go up to 1.3-1.6ghz was it? But only phone now with it is the toshiba and asus i think plans on releasing a underclocked snap dragon at 800mhz. Trust me phones are not released perfect on purpose..its to make you buy the next one ;) Question is..what are you expecting from a phone? if you look at touch pro its rather quick at what it does..this one will improve on video and make it a good business phone..some extra ram wouldnt hurt but anything over is already plans for making your phone a gaming platform. ________ TOYOTA 4RUNNER |

Re: Touch Pro 2 specs?
On the plus side, I'm looking forward to the new wifi/bt chipset. I stream to my phone music/TV (through wifi) fairly regularly when I'm at work (in a building that doesn't get the best cellular signal). I'm also seriously looking forward to being able to carry ONE PHONE when I travel. Having both GSM & CDMA is going to be great and worth the upgrade alone!
On the negative side, I'm going to really miss the LED flashlight. I use it almost every day when getting into my car at night, finding the key-hole to my house front door or looking out for snakes when I'm out walking the dog at night. I'm not sure why HTC did not include this. The LED can't be more than $0.02 (in mass quantities). This one makes no sense to me and seems like a downgrade (a feature that was there but is now missing). That said, I'm fairly certain that I will upgrade in time. |

Re: Touch Pro 2 specs?
All this talk about the TP2 specs..you guys all make good points..especially the lack of a led flashlight. I agree about the OMNIA II...now thats an upgrade..800mhz processor, 2 led flashes, 5 megapixel cam..AMOLED screen..thats one sick device and it should be mine ASAP. I was really on board with the TP2 until I read the specs on the OII...it just doesnt make the TP2 look like much of an upgrade from the TP at all...which I still love mine and wouldnt consider getting rid of it unless the new phone really ups the anty...oh yeah..OII has a 3.8in screen?!?!? That thing is gonna be incredible...I can live without the slide out QWERTY...sorry HTC...Samsung outdid ya...

Re: Touch Pro 2 specs?
my bro is over in the uk and sent me a euro tp2, got it thru his work but he's doin the iphone thing :angry7:. of course i cant really use it for phone/data etc. but i can tell you it is a very very sexy phone. much snappier than my original tp and the screen real estate makes a HUGE difference as does the new keyboard layout. i will agree with most of you guys that on paper just in terms of specs its not a huge jump but the phone is awesome, i will def be getting one!!

Just why i will not buy pro2. Just the same as Pro1 but bigger screen. Not worth the money unless you burn money.

The touch pro, or any windows mobile phone for that matter, is a portable computing/business device. As a business user who is constantly on the go, touch pro far exceeds my needs. A bigger screen will just help my eyes as I grow older. Anyway, to each their own. :) |

I guess that may be the pivot point...the QWERTY I mean..For me, I dont write lotsa email and/or texts. Yes..the Omnia II is for Verizon as you mentioned but that suits me fine since thats my carrier. Also, not sure about the GSM support but if you need it than I'de say thats legit...I've just been very impressed with what I see of the OII and I think Samsung out-spec'd HTC in this case...I see your point though... |
