Shutter noise on camera phones required?

Interesting note here about a new proposed law that will require shutter sounds for all future camera phones (smartphones included)...

It seems to me at least, if there is going to be a law, it sould also apply to digital cameras. Many digital cameras are smaller than a camera phone!

a friend of mine got locked up for this last summer. He was taking pictures up a girls skirt and they caught him. Followed him and called the Police (think the girl was underage). They took both his computer and his phones when they raided his house. Apparently he had been doing this for awhile and had transferred a bunch of pictures to his computers and a bunch of porn. Well they gave him 6 months and $5000 fine. He just got out early for good behavior a couple of days before Xmas. He can only have a a phone without a camera now. I gotta ask him if they gave him his computers back. I doubt it though.

ok that sucks...but really this is a stupid idea to make a law like this... i mean most people who have a 'camera' on their phone now have camcorder capability as well... why address the picture side and do nothing about the video side? That's like banning cigarette lighters but not weed! lol

That's real bad ju-ju, if she was a minor. Had this happened in CA, he likely would also have to register as a sex offender, which in a lot of cases is a lifetime requirement. Since his computer was seized as evidence, he won't see it again.

Sorry to hear it?! I'm not - well, except for the girls he abused! he SHOULD get sex offender status. And he should have gotten more time than that. Creeps like this make my blood boil.

I think he does have to register with the Sex Offender site because of this. Havent been able to ask him He's been avoiding everyone since he got out. he's embarrased by what he did. But like I told him, if you did it ...own it. nothing to be shamed of. I'm sure alot of us have gotten arrested for something really stupid before. Get over it. Getone with your life.
