Actually, it won't really be a driver just a set of "improvements".

The issue is not hardware acceleration (none of the previous devices had that either) it's just that the MSM-7500 (7200) has an under-performing processor (ARM11).

Hello HTC Web Team,

Thank you for your inquiry

HTC is committed to delivering a portfolio of devices that offer a wide variety of communication, connectivity and entertainment functionality. HTC does not offer dedicated or optimized multimedia devices and can confirm that its Qualcomm MSM7xxx-based devices do not use ATI’s Imageon video acceleration hardware.
HTC believes the overall value of its devices based on their combination of functionality and connectivity exceeds their ability to play or render high-resolution video. These devices do still provide a rich multimedia experience comparable to that of most smartphones and enable a variety of audio and video file formats.

HTC values its customers and the overall online community of mobile device enthusiasts and fans. HTC plans to include video acceleration hardware in future video-centric devices that will enable high-resolution video support.

Just to let you know, for more information on your device you can always check www.htcwiki.com.

I hope we have answered your question in detail. Feel free to contact us again if you have any further questions.

Description: I bought (2)Mogul's (PPC-6800)for my wife and myself. Recently, I discovered that video playback on older HTC devices and Samsung devices playing video smoother than my Mogul's.
I alos notice that it seems like with evry new device you release this year, there is some type of new interface or software (HTC Home, HTC camera & album ,HTC Touchflo, etc..) that were not include in my device. I just bought my devices in July. How come there are no updates to put these programs on my device to make it run better?
I paid a total of $1300 for both of my phones thinking they would be the phones I would have at least until next year. I am very disappointed in the performance of HTC products right. To be the world leader in WM devices, this really bothers me. I'm conside! ring switching to a Samsung device and filing a case against HTC & Sprint.

Is HTC aware of my problem, and is anything being done to fix it? There seems to be missing correct drivers.
This also has been confirmed by http://www.htcclassaction.org.

Re: Look at this BS response I got:

It's not a BS response.

The MSM-7500 chipset, specifically the ARM11 processor, is just not optimized or well executed and hence, under-performs when compared to the earlier ARM9 series (MSM-6500).

In turn, the performance issues are not "video driver" related--there are no video drivers for this solution--there have never been video drivers on past devices and there is no evidence that it will help the situation, since those drivers are for video acceleration in 3d images, video and gaming.

The only real solution is for Qualcomm to "enhance" the processor somehow (no evidence they are working on that) or for you to get a new device with a newer processor, like any device with the MSM-6500 chipset (not likely).

The problem is with Qualcomm, not HTC. Read the link in the 2nd post.

These "tweaks" will most likely just be the same cache tweaks we already do and maybe some other little enhancements. HTC though does not make the chipsets, they do not program for them and they do not know how they operate as that information is propriety and owned by Qualcomm. It's like asking Dell to fix Intel's processors.

A much more detailed response on what is being done. No video drivers, but rather a software update that they say should speed up most 2d tasks. Says its for most models, the Touch, Mogul and others.

Re: HTC Video Drivers Coming?

Sounds promising, any improvement would be nice. To me, the amount of free Rom upgrades/support that Sprint and HTC have given is beyond what most companies would do. Now if Sprint would re-think their recent MMS changes the Mogul would pretty much be the best PPC option available in the CDMA market. (keyboard, gps, revA, an unbeatable combo for now)
