Real Google Phone (Not Droid) Check Out
|
Re: Real Google Phone (Not Droid) Check Out
That pic was actually taken from here and their story you have found is kindof twisted. This is the phone Verizon is getting.
Google did make a version for their employee's only, that they will not sale. But this isn't coming to Verizon or anyone else. This site has it mixed up ;) |

Re: Real Google Phone (Not Droid) Check Out
So far the phone itself looks really exciting, but if it only goes to AT&T or TMobile it might as well be a Razr. :sleepy2:

Re: Real Google Phone (Not Droid) Check Out
I don't know breakmyfootoff. TMobile is set to launch their new HSPA 7.2 network before the end of the year. It is sporting speeds 10x that of 3g on Verizon.
My thinking is that this phone will be launched in co-ordination of the turning up the HSPA 7.2 system... and it very well could be... and I hate to use such an abused term... the real iPhone killer. |

Re: Real Google Phone (Not Droid) Check Out
Speed is nice, but have you looked at their data coverage map lately? I do agree that it'll be awesome for the people in those coverage areas, but outside of that, not so much. If they had good 3g coverage I would literally consider paying an early termination fee to get this phone with them, but most of their area is edge :(

According to wideawake, Verizon is getting their version of this soon. He's waiting on more info from his data specialist :) Banden, thanks for your input. Glad to see you posting here. Banden is a great friend of wideawake and I here in NC! |
Re: Real Google Phone (Not Droid) Check Out
I hope this phone does well, if for no other reason than just to help Android grow and attract even more developers. Roaming agreement typically just give edge data connection though, so you wouldnt gain much as far as data coverage goes. I think the actual phone is awesome, I would just rather have it on a CDMA network. I'm not too worried about it though, my next upgrade is still 11 months away and there will be a whole new world of phones available by then at the rate that new phones are being announced lol.

About T-Mobile, I wonder if they are putting up towers here near my house? I wish I knew.

Re: Real Google Phone (Not Droid) Check Out
Well, regardless of what comes down the pipeline next, I think it's good time to launch a phone like this riding in the wake of the Droid(s). I hope Verizon continues this trend as well because it's setting a precidence for the 700mhz spectrum that they now own.
Here in NC, Tmobile is pretty much just an urban option for Raleigh and Charlotte, pretty much everyone else has to be on some other service... Hey Courtney! Glad to be here, I've been lurking for a while, and I've sent an obscene amount of people to this site over the years, but only now that I actually have a smartphone do I really feel I can contribute so hopefully you'll be seeing more of me. So far I really just hang out in the Motorola Droid forum. ~Yeah I am new to being a smartphone user... but I've been working with them and troubleshooting issues for them since the early days. My first cell phone was a Nokia 101... ah to be labelled a drug dealer just for owning a cell phone... those were the days. |
