Unable to Connect and 1012 errors on Q fix

Hey Kids, this is from the sprint fourm website that techs are able to get to...

Actions:
Dial ##3282# on the device.
Press the green Send/Call button.
Select Advanced and press the soft-key under OK.
Select Edit and press the soft-key under OK.
Enter MSL and press the soft-key under OK.
Scroll down and change Slotted Index from 2 to 0.
DO NOT CHANGE ANYTHING ELSE.
Press the soft-key under OK.
The device will power cycle.
After the device powers back up, Update Data Profile (Client IOTA):

Select Start.
Select Settings.
Select More.
Select More.
Select More.
Select PCS Vision.
Select Update Vision Profile.
After the update completes, the user should be able to access Vision services.

If you need your MSL which all of you will, just call the cust service dept and ask for your MSL. If you can not get it from the cust svc, I will, MAYBE, get it for you. I will not handle all requests...

Wont changing the slot index from 2 to 0 have an adverse affect on battery life?

TheHide 03-15-2007 08:35 PM

I have not noticed any loss in battery life. Myself and the three other sprint techs I work with had this same problem and no one said anything about the battery life. I wouldn't worry about it.

We've been doing it on the 6700 for ages and ages...great old hack. Unfortunately we were never able to do it on the 700wx, too bad.

To answer your question: theoretically it could since the device is now "pinging" the tower more but in reality I haven't experienced or seen others complain of a loss in battery life.

You can always turn it to "1" and go halfvies...it's still an improvement.

I do recommend this trick for people though as it does greatly enhance your ability to receive calls, which is important!

TheHide: thanks for the detailed post. Great work.

Now off to get my MSL from Sprint...lol

It's the rate at which the phone checks with the cell tower to see if there is an incoming call. By default it's like every 5 seconds but if someone calls right after your phone just pinged the tower then it'll be 5 seconds before you the phone detects the call and then it has to "wake" the device (+2 sec?) so a lot of times it "seems" like you don't get a call till the 3rd or 4th ring.

This speeds up that process.
