Sprint Moto Q Update Patch: Now out

So I went to MOTO's software update, input that I had a Sprint Q, and downloaded the update tool. It ran and said there was an update for the device.......I hope its something new.....

Motorola RAM Downloader
AP RAM Downloader Version:

RAM_CDMA_03.09.01R_MPAP

Dunno if thats stock (what comes on the device) or something new.....its running right now.

timber 03-13-2007 12:04 PM

I don't know where to get the firmware information, but under about my Q now says:

Radio Version Q2-BP_C_06.26.00R, Q2 Portable
RIL Version 2.000
OS 5.1.195 (Build 14960.2.4.0) (not expecting that to change)

what do you guys have?

or where can I get firmware information?

timber 03-13-2007 12:10 PM

I definitely think its an update guys.....when you turn off the phone the screen that shows is different.....I just did a hard reset and when you go to dial numbers the banner image has the number/letter combo up.....but I'd like to get more verification from ya'all

What network are you talking about? VZW?

timber 03-13-2007 02:06 PM

Sorry, Sprint PCS

nebula 03-13-2007 02:14 PM

Actually that's what I need :-) Can you link me to the update file please?

Thank you!

timber 03-13-2007 02:18 PM

http://direct.motorola.com/hellomoto...A&language=ENS

Sorry I'm not allowed to post links yet....click software update and follow the instructions (OPEN THEM FIRST) and then download the software.

Edit: Filled the link for you Timber  --Mal

I could've sworn! the sprint was not one of the option till just now! i have been checking it constantly to see if there's anything! Awesome Appreciate it!

Thank you

timber 03-13-2007 02:54 PM

hehe, I just decided to check it this morning for no real reason.....actually searched the forums to see if it was legit but didn't find anything, so I decided to do the update anyway.

Great, I am tired of this crappy "unable to place call" message when I switch 1X to EVDO and vice versa. Rebooting the phone completely drains my battery everytime I have to do it. Hopefully that issue has been addressed in this update. Sprint CSR's have absolutely no idea what they are talking about (Even Technical Support for Q, clueless tech's just waste my time). I was told to replace the phone when I did that they simply blamed it on the new phone again!

nebula 03-13-2007 05:33 PM

We were the early birds :-) the Update is now showing up on Powerdeck as well!

Big D5 03-13-2007 11:11 PM

What have you seen that's new?

This is what I have seen
1) Sprint power off when turning the Q off
2) clear voice mail icon added to phone settings
3) Added number to letter icons in phone dialing screen

Thanks for posting timber 8)

This update will install the newest PRL 60607, if you are like me and havn't called CS yet. :)

widdlewade 03-14-2007 01:51 AM

This is the first update on any phone I've owned which won't work with windows x64. :(

g-funkster 03-14-2007 11:55 AM

So does this update enable by default call receive on EvDO?

Yes, and read the sticky http://www.ppcgeeks.com/sprint-moto-...-14-t3771.html

it has all the information you will need regarding this patch :)

Dmunkey 03-15-2007 01:26 AM

So I'm hoping someone can help me. Has anyone figured a way to run the update on a vista machine. :?: :?:

Jamey 03-15-2007 08:11 PM

Can someone confirm that the update does indeed change the default DDTM setting to OFF for ring thru during an EVDO session? I'm trying to avoid a hard reset, but if that is fixed, it may be worth it to me.
Thanks!

Big D5 03-15-2007 08:18 PM

It didn't work on mine, it is supposed to do the DDTM default to off but some have reported no change. I would be interested to see if this has worked for anyone.

Same with me...

budney 03-16-2007 08:18 AM

The DDTM didn't change for me after the update. Not that it matters to me as Sprint is still trying to get EVDO working here. :(

mmsplease 03-22-2007 01:03 AM

need some help on this guys!!! my q quit during the upgrade. gets to about 47% and shuts off. tried all the instructions and nothing works. my q is now a damn paperweight. can't even turn it on to use. i can get the software update to see the phone, but 47% and bam no more.
