2.2... root? downgrade?
 

hi... im almost positive this has been posted before but i have spent an hour searching and couldnt find exactly what i was looking for...

i just got a new droid with stock 2.2

can i root? easily? with an update.zip?

if not how can i downgrade to 2.1?

I think you can still flash the sbf file and go back. There's just a few more steps to reverting than you are used to.

how do i flash the sbf.... im on a mac so i would like to do everything from the phone if possible

I'm no help on a MAC but I Just did it today on my new D1 on windows-

Follow those instructions to get back to a rootable version

http://alldroid.org/Default.aspx?tab...g=posts&m=7070 use this to root in one click for free instead of paying for someone to wrap someone elses work up and charge for it (or pay for easy root, either way)

install it, busy box and reboot. Install clockwork Rom manager and off you go.

i cant even use the droid if its not rooted with a custom rom, i could never wait. once i rooted i cant even imagine going back lol

but i solved my problem anyway by downgrading then rooting

its really not too hard to do... and you can always un-root. you should try it! even if something goes terribly wrong and you brick your phone you can still fix it most of the time!:toothy10::toothy10:

Well you sir are doing better than me. I need some freakin help for a complete dummy/noob bc I can't get mine to do jack diddly. I have tried RSD Lite and it will not update, and tried the update.zip and always get E:verification signature blah blah blah or something. Killing me.
