i got an 800mhz kernel to work but nothing higher

i used a 1.2ghz update.zip format from chevy to install my kernals.

hmm.. thats weird. on cyanogenmod my phone couldnt handle more than 800mhz could that be why?
(sorry if thats a stupid question)
