banden, I will install the 2.0.3 ROM and see what happens. if things seem all right, I will start asking about overclocking advice.

I installed the 2.0.3 ROM. I had no problems so far, except typing while using the browser has a noticable lag. Can I fix this?

I haven't tried any 2.1 Roms, but as far as the overclocking goes I use SetCPU and all I did is click auto-detect and then refresh and it worked great my Droid is now stupid fast.

I can't imagine it being faster, or needing it to be, stock it's already stupid fast compared to my touch pro. I wish I could do something about how much power the screen sucks down.

I have rooted but have not done a recovery update. When I go to the SMupdater it says I need to update the recovery image, continuing will void the warranty. This makes me nervous. This is reversible, right? I need my warranty. I am rooting mainly to overclock with setcpu. I'm just asking before I go any further. Thanks

Rooting your droid does void the warranty. Sholes team gives those warnings/recommendations to avoid any liability for your phone. That being said, I haven't heard of a single instance of someone bricking their phone using the sholes updater. Also the recovery system is perhaps the single greatest feature of rooting as it allows you to completely back up the phone.

I would advise having insurance on your phone ($6/mo from verizon) if you plan on rooting, just in case.

Thanks Banden. I do have the insurance. I had already rooted so I guess I had already committed anyway. :) I wasn't really worried about bricking, but I do like the option of warranty replacements. In fact, I just got one last week. So there is no chance of a reversal now that I have rooted if I was to have warranty issues???
