Do you dig the Droid?

So now that this little phones been out for a bit I was hoping to get some feedback from some of you as to how you like it. I am currently using an iPhone 3GS that has been jailbroken and does a lot of things that factory ifonz don't. (i.e. backgorund apps, third party apps, etc).

Anyhow I dig the iPhone but we all know that At&t's network is horrid so I'm thinking of getting a second phone as a personal line, and I'm thinking of making the droid. Here is a poll.

Thing I don't like:
no phone button, I hate the search button.
Keyboard buttons could be better
Hopefully we can reassign the front face buttons in mods to come
Also no zoom in/out in gmail app
No backwards delete
No undo (ctrl z)

Other things I want (all sw not hw)
a iso player app
A port of perl
Some sort of chron job app
I want to be aple to copy and paste

Every thing else I love

I was loving it until this browser lag issue. Hopefully it will be fixed soon.

You can copy and paste by long pressing on any text area. I don't have any solutions for the other things though :)

Thought I would give KINGRYE a few tpis first. If you use Home++ you will have a phone button thats always on the screen :) as well as some other great options, check out the Home++ FTW thread. The Droid does copy and paste also, it's under the "more" options when you hit the menu button, or you can long press on text.

This phone does everything that a jailbroken iphone will right out of the box. If you want to install "3rd party apps" there's an option in settings for that. There's lots of options for customization right out of the box, and it's very capable. I visit a couple of Android forums, and for every 2 or 3 iPhone guys that try it out and decide to go back to an iPhone, there are 8 to 10 that love it way more than their old iPhone and wouldnt think about going back even if the iPhone came to a better network. In the end it's still going to be personal preference. Dig around in the forums some and play with one in a Verizon store.

Initial impression with only two weeks experience:

Likes: Screen, sound, ergo's (big hands), intuitive set up (ease of use), memory, OS, speed of processor running muliple apps, 3rd party sw availability already, common USB charging port, Google Nav works well out of the box

Dislikes: Battery life (isn't bad by any means but want better), Gmail sync to Outlook limited to contacts and calender, connection to PC routine to exchange SD card files, no world version yet, requires add-on (free) for MS Office files

Well I've decided in to get myself a droid to try it out. Worst case scenario I don't like it and I return it in 30 days. Ill let you all know what I think! Thanks for the info!

I have had mine for all of 4 days. Moved from a vogue. So far, I have not found anything that would make me give it back. Was debating a TP2. I have found apps for all I need, not all free, but does the job thoroughly. I use it in an exchange environment and it is nice. Touchdown is a great app. Docs to Go for $10 is a great app. Now looking for games to while away the time.
