How do I move my contacts from my TP2 to Droid X?

I just received my new Droid X today and I can't wait to get to play with it. But before I activate it, I want to get my contacts transfered from my old Touch Pro 2 and I cannot for my life figure out how to do this!

I have spent all day seaching and reading and most places seem to suggest I sync the TP2 with my gmail account. I have set this up and it appears to sync, but the contacts never show up in the gmail account. Most of the help I have found online seems reference doing the syncing from older than WinMo 6.5 and everything is in a different place.

I'm hoping there's some other TP2 Mighty Rom users in here that have done the transfer and can help me out. :)

The way I did it was to export my outlook contacts to a csv file, then import them to my gmail account.

Then they synced right up to the X.

(I had a TP2 with an NRG ROM)

+1. If you dont have outlook you may have to do some googling.

cant you also use wireless sync.

set up sync on your tp2, sync and then activate. then sync again with the X

I figured it out by accident. :???: I kept trying a bunch of settings on the TP2 and all of a sudden it started to sync. When I opened my gmail the contacts were all there - all had duplicates too. ](*,)

Fortunately gmail has a great duplicate fixer and it took care of them quickly. When I synced the Droid X everything came over just fine.

Thanks for the help, my next step was going to be the csv route.

On an unrelated note skyraev how did you get your X? I have and hate my TP2 and am going to add a line just to get the X.

I got an email from Verizon that my second line (MiFi 2200) was eligible for an upgrade so I called them and they just told me straight up that they would upgrade my main line to the Droid X too even though I only had my TP2 since September last year. As long as I signed up for another two years.

They were very helpful and the phone shipped almost a week sooner than they had said it would.

Edit: Here's the number I called (from the email Verizon sent me): 866-505-8960

HOLY SHIZZ THAT WORKED!! I have been trying to figure out a way to get an X for months. All the reps I talked to in the store and on the phone were being less than helpful. I was about to go to the store and sign up for a new number but luckily I got slammed in traffic and couldn't make it. So I called this number you posted and talked to a super nice lady who didn't see any type of offer on my account so she just manually applied the upgrade price. Needless to say, the X will be arriving in a couple weeks! BAAAAAAAAAAAAAM!

I'm glad that worked for you too.

They were really nice when I called that number as well.
