i'm speaking from the point of view of a stock rom so be patient but what i think he's saying is when i have several unread text messages and i'm on the home screen of touch flo at the bottom with the text icon theres a little yellow circle with the number of unread msgs
what hes asking for is something that does the same for missed calls but put the number of missed calls down by the phone book icon
right?

I think you've captured the essence of what the OP was asking, but now I have to throw some cold water on it. What you are looking for, to the best of my knowledge, is for all intents, impossible. That isn't a native function of any version of Manila like it is for the taskbar functions. You would have to have the source code for TF3D, be able to add that feature, make sure it didn't break anything else, then recompile it. And since HTC isn't exactly going to give that kind of IP out to the general public...
