Disable Rhodium TF3D2 SMS App
 

My biggest and only gripe about the latest Rhodium TF3D2 Manila has been the new integrated SMS app. It's slow and pisses me off that it doesn't default to entering text. Also, if you are entering txt and switch to landscape it takes you out of the txt box.

Anyways...I ran into this post by Krzysiec over at xda and he had a manila file that reverted back to the stock WM SMS app.

All I did was cab up his manila file and test. I have installed and uninstalled this cab to go back and forth between the two SMS apps. All credit for this file goes to Krzysiec.

I like having cabs so that I can add them to my SDConfig.txt file.

Do you happen to know how to fix the problem where the TF3D2 text goes under the text box when you have a lot of msgs?

OMG THANK YOU SO MUCH you dont even know how long i have been trying to figure this out and stop it cause i really HATE the way SMS is handled in Rhodium!!!! Thanks again!! oh and a HUGE thanks to Krzysiec.

does anyone know what files this changes and possibly have the originals? i have a rom that this is presumably cooked into and am looking for a possible fix as i am liking the rhodium app more and more



EDIT: i found it it is 47dd6acd_manilla and i was right i dropped this into the windows folder and boom back to the rhodium

the .cab file works in taking me straight to the windows threaded sms.... however when in landscape mode in tf3d, messages look like they are in portrait mode.... like the message on the screen shown on the left half of the screen.anyone have this?

Thanks for the .cab file. I too was using the Manila file for he fix, but the .cab now allows me to use it in UC when I load a new ROM. Great work.

hay man thanks for the file but i was wondering if you knew of a way to fix how the info on the sms tab goes to the left instead of staying centered on the tab during landscape? i have been playing with m9editor and the manila file in your cab but cant seem to get it to work thanks alot

I'm pretty busy right now to jump back into lau scripting...so my guess is I wont get around to doing it any time soon.

Id like a fix as well... the uncentered text in landscape is almost as annoying as manila sms :P

i think i know how to fix this in theory, but im not good at editing files. if somebody could take this manila file and view it in a mode9. the resolution is wrong so if you can go into a mode9 editor and see if it shows the screensize and change that I THINK IN THEORY this would fix it. seems like an easy fix IF this is all you have to do.

any takers??????????????

edit: i opened the file and looks like there is a lot more work then i said.

Dang... i absolutely HATE Manila SMS... ugh! Its so convenient to tap a message and go to threaded messaging... Maybe its gonna take a few of us to get together a bounty for someone to making a fix.

well it still works. its just the screen size is shrunken. the cab is a great temporary fix, but i hope we can get somebody to fix the screen size. if you dont know what im talking about or want to know what im talking about before you install this cab. i can post a SS if you like?

the text should be centered and the the new txt icon should be to the very right of the screen.

Yeah i tried the fix also... and i guess im ocd, but i cant stand it being cutoff like that either lol

probably. its just a manila edit. MAKE SURE you have HTC Sense turned OFF before you do this.

Ugh, that didn't work for me. I already tried it, and it didn't remove the HTC Messaging UI. Maybe it's the ROM I'm using on my Touch Pro... RZ's Baseline. I made sure I disabled Sense before installing, then soft-reset.

Let me be clearer about that. It changed the location of the Send button (put it beside the compose box instead of below it), but it didn't speed it up. The UI still looks the same as before in all other respects, and my >1000 text messages makes it dog slow. I just want a traditional messaging utility when selecting a message on the Messaging tab, something not so taxing on the CPU and doesn't make the device non-responsive for a period of time.

This isn't working for me. I'm running Sense 2.5, but with the 2.1 style messaging, with the picture of the contact at the top, NOT the new 2.5 messaging that shows the picture by each text.

I want to be able to tap on the text in sense, and have it open the WM thread. Is that was this is supposed to do?
