How come a lot of the files are "hidden" in windows? I goto the properties to unhide them but the "Hidden" checkbox is stuck on hidden.

What if I just wanted to overwrite one single manila file? I'd like to have the transparent tabs and found a manila file, but when i try to copy over the old one (I've backed it up of course) total commander says it can't.

I hate being a noob.

I am not sure. Usually you just use Total Commander. Copy the file from your internal storage (or where ever you have it) and copy/move to /windows. You might want to try turning off TF3D in the Today menu.

First copy all of the _manilia files from the /windows directory to your internal storage. Then select all the files and go to properties. Uncheck Hidden and System attributes. Make sure both boxes are clear of any checks, you may have to tap it twice to remove all checks. After this you will be good and you will be able to manipulate and view all the files.

Quick word of warning when using Manila Editor... You can NOT change the Internet tab globe icons or the Sprint default background with 0.2 version of this tool. It will result in a "White Out" effect for that button.

If you want to replace it, you need to edit the file "27c65cbd_manila" so that it looks like this:

Code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<InternetPortal>
  <IncludeUserFavorites>True</IncludeUserFavorites>
  <Banner
    DefaultImagePath="\Windows\Globe.png"
    SelectedImagePath="\Windows\Globe_Selected.png"
    Width="480"
    Height="215" />
  <OperatorLinks>
    <Link
      Text="YouTube"
      Executable="\windows\youtube.exe"
      ImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\youtube.qtc" />
  </OperatorLinks>
</InternetPortal>

Then, your replacement globes should be "Globe.png" and "Globe_Selected.png" and must be copied to the \Windows folder on the phone along with the new manila file. Incidentally, this is where you can remove the YouTube icon as well by removing the 3 lines found between the OperatorLinks markers.

I'm not sure about replacing the background yet, but I will update this post if I find it.

As far as the backgroud; I installed a program that allows changing the wallpaper on all tabs. Once you install it, you can go to the settings tab and change the wallpaper. This change will occur on all tabs. Link below:

In windows XP i can still edit them and since i have view hidden files on i can see them. but I wanted to give them to friends and stuff and it was a pain to walk them through viewing invisible files. i tried to unhide them but the check box is locked.

Yeah, I understand. You will have to put them in your internal storage and use Total Commander to remove the hidden and system attributes. Once you do it once, they will stay that way.

Is it possible to import images into the manila files that are larger then the default images?

Re: Edit Manilla Graphics?

No, they need to be resized to fit the dimensions of the existing files. And in the off chance you mean file size, just remember that the bigger your graphic's file size, the slower it's going to load on the device which can cause a lot of lag.

By the way, I'm working on a tutorial for all these customizations... it's a work in progress since I'm just getting started, but I hope for it to grow into something pretty useful.

Nah i did mean dimensions. :( I want to make the landscape background transparent but the wallpaper doesnt appear right so my only alternative was to make the background a full size wall paper for landscape menu. but it has to be the same dimensions so that wont work either.

This thread is awesome. Spent a few minutes modifying the manila file and creating a couple png icons and now my internet tab looks like this the attached.

Code:

<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-16"?>
<InternetPortal>
  <IncludeUserFavorites>True</IncludeUserFavorites>
  <Banner
    DefaultImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner.qtc"
    SelectedImagePath="\Windows\HTC\Assets\Images\InternetPortal\banner_selected.qtc"
    Text="Launch Browser"
    Width="240"
    Height="107" />
  <OperatorLinks>
    <Link
      Text="Kinoma"
      Executable="\Storage Card\Program Files\Kinoma\BIN\Kinoma.exe"
      ImagePath="\Windows\kinoma.png" />
    <Link
      Text="Messenger"
      Executable="\Windows\WLMMessenger.exe"
      ImagePath="\Windows\msn.png" />
    <Link
      Text="Live Search"
      Executable="\Storage Card\Program Files\LiveSearch\LiveSearch.exe"
      ImagePath="\Windows\livesearch.png" />
  </OperatorLinks>
</InternetPortal>

Having an issue with my Internet page. On first load its fine as seen above but on softboot neither the msn or live icons load and they are just a white box. If I recopy the png to the windows directory (having to overwrite because they are already there) and go back to internet they are there again.

Anyone have an ideas?

Can't edit the Internet globes with Manila Editor for some reason. See the Manila Customization link in my signature for information on how to do it successfully. :)

Re: Edit Manilla Graphics?

Here's the .NET Framework installer (warning, it's a pretty big download)... install it, reboot, and then make sure you run Windows Updates to be fully patched up.

Then you should just be able to unzip the Manila editor exe and its dll file and be good to go.

yes, on the phone use Total Commander or equivelent and copy all the manila files from the windows directory to somewhere on your SD card. then in total commander make all the files unhidden(the copies not the originals) and then transfer them off of your phone to your computer. then make sure your PC has .net installed and then you install the manila editor on the PC.
