Disable HTC Messaging in Sense 2.5?

I've been looking around on XDA and here for a way to disable the HTC Messaging that's included with the Sense 2.5 UI. It's very slow when you have a lot of text messages. I managed to make it snappier by downloading a patch provided by HTC, but still it can be slow at times, especially after you hit Send. Does anyone know of a way to disable it, or at least install something that will override it when tapping on a message on the SMS tab?

Can you post a link to said patch from HTC?

I tried this on my touch pro 2 with the latest energy rom installed (and cookie monster) now I'm not receiving texts, I can send but not receive.

Re: Disable HTC Messaging in Sense 2.5?

Not only is this separate messaging client annoying me, but it also appears that my Tmo TP2 stock has an alternate 'phone' client too. my phone can't make up its mind which one to show!

And yes, this sense messaging program is very slow and hardly works. Like when I type in my message, it shows up fine, when I hit send it doesn't show in the threaded history..open the WinMo client and its not there either! have to resend the message, but as of yet, no one has told me I've been sending them slightly duplicate messages. lol

edit: and if someone could enlighten me on the exact steps to find out what Sense version I have that would be great, I don't see anything about it in the 'about' section..

you'll have to search xda for sense 2.1. i was able to find a manila file that overwrites a stock manila file and fixed this msg issue.

for 2.5, i have searched for hours and tried every fix i could find. nothing worked. including the zenyee patch. did nothing for me.

anybody willing to test something?

i found this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show...24&postcount=5
LOOK on the bottom and you see "CDMA_SMS_Fix.zip" in there is a manila file. backup your current manila file and then copy it with this one....does that get rid of this BS htc messaging app?

this is for cooking only. not for roms that are precooked that you are trying to change.

Re: Disable HTC Messaging in Sense 2.5?

+1 of this,
I am desparate with this problem, there is nothing to change just limiting the viewing sms jus 5 sms maybe and the rest is stay in the older sms (like WM 6.1 organize text sms) that's all the key make this HTC messaging better, but can anybody write a script or some thing or maybe HTC should made LIMITATING for viewing sms.

Re: Disable HTC Messaging in Sense 2.5?

This problem has made me second guess switching to 6.5/2.5. It wouldn't be so bad if it were just the slow performance, but alot of times, after a text, it will totally reset Sense and in some cases won't even be able to restart it w/o a soft reset... :/
