Kalnel I agree tons of fun but not net book/laptop replacement. However, I had the best time sitting at Starbucks this morning which was one of my main reasons for purchase.

Free apps from the app store, and I believe there working on getting winterboard (ui theme changer) to work fir the iPad. And ofcourse Multitasking. :grin:

Yeah, I would have to agree....definitely NOT a PC replacement, HOWEVER I am getting rid of my PC and getting a netbook. I think that these two would be a powerful AND portable combination.

I'll use my phone to tether...

AT&T doesn't have 3g in my area so that's why I saved a 130.00 and just got the wifi version.

It is pretty awesome to stay connected 24-7....or is that a bad thing????

I don't think being connected to wifi is a bad thing at all. Actually, most of the games you play on the Ipad tell you "FOR FASTER CONNECTION USE WIFI" I just think that is so true and hillarious!!! Poor At&t 3g is not available in most areas so it makes since!

This thing is almost obnoxious with how fun it is. When I first saw one, I thought Steve Job's hubris had reached monumental levels. After playing with one for an hour at the Apple store, I bought one right away. Since then, I've constantly toted it around. I cache a bunch of pages at home with wifi and then take them on the go. The games are fun and amazing on the screen.

The iPad doesn't replace my netbook, because I use that strictly for business and school, but my iPad is so much more fun!

Of course it doesn't replace a laptop but it does take care of all your gaming desires ;) It's fascinating! I agree :D

I've gotta agree. I sold my laptop and grabbed a wifi iPad and a net book, haven't looked back. I use my tp2s 3G to tether this thing and it works like a charm. At this point I'm rethinking buying the evo lol. This is my first apple product and they've certainly impressed me. I figure once the clam case pad case drops I'll really be forsaking my net book.

I like that! That's what we use our Ipad through is just the wifi. No need to be on the network ;) Were very impressed as well!

I considered picking up the wifi only model and tether with my tp2. I didn't like the connection and speeds my tp2 gave my iPod touch so I decided against it...and went 3G instead. this was probably the best decision I could have made. the 3G gives you more flexibility...and functionality without being tied to any wifi hotspots. think xGPS..or google maps while in the car on the move. combine the 3G capabilities with iworks and dropbox I can be mobile and get work accomplished. iPages and numbers are both backward compatible with word and excel. I don't even need a net book for addition support while out and about. All I need is the pc at home to jump off from.

We had the hardest time locating an iPad is week. Have a name on waiting list for the 3G one. Should be two weeks wait! I need to find one more wifi one locally for my friend.

I love mine... I don't have the 3g but thats not a biggie, my guy wants the 3g though so we had to wait list it. We found one wifi one so got that for now then he'll gift it to one of his kids when the 3g comes.

Soooooo my 64GB 3G iPad (IPAD WI-FI + 3G 64GB-USA according to my shipping confirmation) should be here tomorrow or Friday lol. I am going to give my wifi only to my sister I think. Will take pics when I get it. I also ordered the charging dock, some cord, a case, and something else. I forget since it was a couple weeks ago. It will be my birthday present to me, just early LOL :)

I figure my 64GB wifi will be my sisters birthday present, she won't care that I opened it already, especially since I tweaked it and all. So I kill two birds, I get something new and I get her B-Day present covered all in one shot! I haven't even looked at the 3G account crap I will need from ATT, but whatev. When my husband saw the total for it (after I paid) and I thought he was gonna faint LOL!

Yeah I play like that. My gifts to self are always the best! But this year I'm ridding self of glasses --Monday!-- so no $ for the big toys. LASIK is an expensive luxury LOL

But oh so worth it! I had my Lasik done a few years ago and it's been absolutely amazing. I literally could only see about 8 inches clearly. Within a few feet out I couldn't tell what an object was with any certainty. Now, I have perfect vision. I loved my Lasik.

I can't wait, I go in on Monday morning. Unfortunately the way my old age (presbyopia+astigmatism) eyes work, I will still need readers but it will be a minor OTC adjustment so no biggie.. for the quick things I'll be fine.

And to keep it on topic... hrmmm I wonder how viewing on iPad will be with or without/readers. :)

you don't need to jailbreak the iPad to do that, just tether her rooted Evo via wifi tethering and connect to that using the iPad (or any phone she's doing).
