Re: [ROM] Drellisdee Whitestone Beta 23549 3/24/10

Two quick B3 questions before I flash again, hopefully they're not too dumb:

- Is Swype set up as the default soft keyboard (and if so, it is easy/clean to turn it off and go back to the HTC version)

- Is the "stock" Arcsoft text messaging module the HTC one that came stock on the device with Sense 2.0, or the actual underlying Windows Mobile version?

I'm still amazed at how much more I like my Imagio with this (B2) ROM it. Other than the slow HTC messaging and the very occasional lock up on a soft reset, it's been absolutely ideal for me.

No swype is not set as default sip default it is still ezinput 2.1 as in beta2 but swype is a selectable option in beta3. Beta 3 SMS text is handled exactly the same as it was on stock rom and MMS is done with arcsoft the same as stock rom too. Do not try to send a pic message from the htc albumn as it will lockup on beta3. Go to create a new text or picture msg and insert picture and it will work fine.

Does it have the bug where you need SIP Changer to set Swype as default? And if you do have to use SIP Changer, is it reliable?

An issue I have run into is with the HTC Music tab/application. After pressing the "play" button, the song (any song) will play as expected for ~20-90 seconds (not in a consistent pattern that I can tell so far), the screen will give a bit of a flash (like its turning on/off the backlight) and the music will stop. The play button is still at the pause symbol, but the music quits.

This has been a problem on both beta2 and beta3. I don't know about beta1 or the alpha releases since I haven't flashed them. I'm running Cookie's Home Tab, Manila Disable Clock Flipping. I currently uninstalled Swype, but also had this problem while it was installed.

Same result for me I tested a NON DRM mp3 and it fully played. Its possible DRM music may have an issue as I imported the DRM pkg from another phone as it was a dependancy of sense 2.5. nukezdoc, can you give the exact specs of the music file thats giving you an issue. Its it mp3 aac, etc. and is it DRM or non-DRM?

I agree. I'm pretty noob to this, but I was drawn by the fact I don't need carrier provisioning. Actually yesterday when I flashed to Build 3 and started up my phone an SMS came through before I did *228 Option 1. I still did a hard reset then went through all the motions.

This build has been incredibily stable once I learned the 2 issues that freeze my Imagio.

#1) As I mentioned if I try to set a contact as an item on my home screen it freezes.

#2) As documented trying to send an MMS through picture messaging froze mine. We now know to insert picture through SMS.

After most of a day of text, email, web and calls my memory was sitting around 71% which is pretty good.Stock ROM sat around 65% with the upgrade.

Absolutely.

All my music is non-DRM mp3. Some have been ripped from my CD collection, some were purchased via iTunes and subsequently had the DRM removed (the burn on CD and re-import trick), and some were "shared", roughly in equal proportions. The stoppage error applies to all three.

All my music is played off of the SanDisk Mobile Ultra 16GB SD Card. The My Music folder on the SD card is organized into subfolders based on album. For example: \Storage Card\My Music\Repo Man_The Original Motion Picture Soundtrack\07 Let's Have a War.mp3 or \Storage Card\My Music\Liz Phair_Whipsmart\Supernova.mp3.

I've also noticed the spinning circle in the upper left hand corner (next to the turntable icon) runs a LOT when I'm playing. I don't know if that indicates memory buffering or what. The stoppage happens when playing music from a playlist and when playing tunes singly.

When looking at the Energy ROM thread last night, this post seemed to indicate a similar problem, suggesting that it is a bug with Sense 2.5 (as opposed to a problem with the ROM) but its a little thin on details, and I don't think anybody really answered the question.

I believe this is the file I've used in the past to enable the greyed out notification settings.
