this was my first rom! its fun finding all the new things im not used to, but i do have a couple questions.
1- how can i get a task manager like the stock one, where its easily accessible so i can shut down programs and what not
2- the weather on the desktop always reverts back to new york? anyway to change it so it stays my current city?
3- is there anyway to lock the phone quicker than going into windows and hitting the lock or holding down the power button then hitting lock, i kind of like the old lock icon on the screen

1 - HTC doesn't make a task manager for this version of Windows Mobile so Drellisdee cooked in Showcase. It's nice although sometimes slow to load but you do a long press on the start button.

2 - Do you have "My location" enabled for your weather? On the weather tab select Menu and you should see an option to enable it.

3 - The only way I have found to do it is to make a shortcut for DeviceLock.exe in the Windows directory. I keep one as a quick link on my home page.

actually in regards to the previous task manager question, you can make a short cut to the taskmanager file in the windows directory, then put that on your home page or any hot key, i do that because showcase is not very reliable. Making a shortcut of the taskmanager program is fast and reliable.

So again make a shortcut from the file "taskmgr.exe" program and place it in an easy place to get to, i have actually linked it to the long press of the send key. hope that helps

I use this method too, but DeviceLock.exe has a less-than-pretty icon. Dres, would it be possible to attach an icon to that exe? Energy is able to do it in his ROM, so maybe he could offer some advice.

Just wanted to report some feedback.

Been using the initial 1.3 ROM on both my phone and my girlfriends phone, for over a week now, to alot less than stellar results. Both phones are experiencing the same issues, random lockups, freezes, will sometimes take 3-5 minutes to come out of a locked mode, as well as the fact that the system overall just seems slow.

What is odd, is that the memory usage rarely ever gets above 80%, and when the phone is able to get to Manila, applications open just fine, nice and quick, it just seems like the underlying Manila is what is causing the slowdown...

Just a heads up, hope the feedback helps.

I've noticed the same thing with the 4/20 release. it seems to degrade over time. i thought maybe I had too many sms's bc the slowness seems most pronounced when i'm using HTC messaging, but experience is the same after wiping all messages

I got rid of HTC Messaging per the instructions linked a few posts back. This helped things tremendously. I really think HTC Messaging was the source of a lot of my sluggishness and issues on all these custom ROMS.

I've had 1.3 installed for a week and haven't noted any particular or unexpected slowdowns. I actually got the QuickGPS download notification today, been a while since I've had a ROM on long enough for that!

I haven't done a lot of "heavy" use on 1.3, though. Fairly light SMS, which I clean out after about 25-30 messages, check e-mail 10-15 times a day, post on Facebook occasionally, stuff like that.

One question I have ... do you guys use the Music tab? It seems to be a pretty flaky portion of SenseUI. For example, Showcase gets messed up for me if I've been playing music. If I pause music Showcase will never come up until I hit the Play button again and then it comes up out of nowhere. Freaky. It's a long shot to be sure, but it might be worth deleting the AudioManager_eng database, temporarily disabling the Music tab to see if that makes any difference.

It's one of the first things I disable. :) I also get rid of WMP in the Program Files directory. I've noticed it does speed up the device to disable the Music tab, but only slightly. I've never had anything but issues with it, and I always ended up getting out my Zune anyway.

Drellisdee rom build RC1.3 is great ! But i dont like the HTC messaging in this rom, it's too slow. The system is so fast but it's not stable than the older build with OS 21xxx
