flashing problem

hey guys, its not my first time flashing, but its been awhile since i last flashed and right now im trying to get nfsfan's new rom on my vogue and he says always flash in bootloader mode.

I'm in bootloader mode right now with the 3 color stripes and 2.31 coke showing up so its all good, but in bootloader mode my pc doesnt recognize the device and when i run RUU it says my device is not connected, windows mobile center cant see the device under bootloader as well....so im guessing i need to find a driver for it?

Re: flashing problem

What I do is run the unlocker unzip into the directory of the latest rom I want to update to and it does the rest. Pretty easy from there. hope that helps.

Re: flashing problem

Leo,

What I do is download the latest version of the rom I want to flash.
Then I will unpack it to say C:\latestrom
From this point, I will make sure that there isnt another directory inside this one that has all the files.
Then I will run the Unlocker self extractor. I point this to C:\latestrom.
Then it will kick off automatically and start the process, You will need to then follow the onscreen prompts.

Let me know if this helps at all. I have done all of my roms this way and never had an issue.

Just try it again, the first time i connected it to my PC in bootloader mode it did not pick it up, but on the third try it did, loaded and works fine

Re: flashing problem

kuluminati, now did u do that in bootloader or did you let the phone boot into windows mobile?

i went to device manager and saw in Qualcomm CDMA Technologies MSM (with a exclamation mark beside it) in other devices, and it cant find any drivers for it, I'm on windows 7 ultimate x64

Re: flashing problem

I actually let windows see my phone and then dont touch my phone from that point on. I do the rest of it from my machine. It has never failed me. Well there is the one spot you need to reseat the USB cable but thats it. It works great.

Re: flashing problem

okay im sorry, but im gonna go ahead and be a ***** here, you have yet to answer my question, did you or did you not flash the phone in bootloader mode, because my computer cant doesnt have the drivers to access the phone in the bootloader mode while its perfectly fine when it boots into windows mobile. I'm sorry but im just 1/2 way into my contract and i dont want to brick it. Now if you did it in bootloader mode then i'm gonna have to find away to get drivers or w/e and if you did it in windows mobile, well thats nuff said

Re: flashing problem

I'm wondering if you are having problems because your PC is a 64bit system. Is there any way you can use a 32bit system to flash. Maybe a laptop with xp or vista 32bit. I think I remember someone else having problems because they were trying to flash using a dual 32/64 system. Dunno :(

If you have a SD card you can flash it that way.
Just Place the RUU_signed.nbh file on the root of the SD card and Rename it to VOGUIMG.NBH

Then just enter the bootloader mode and follow the on screen instructions.

Once you get a ROM up and running it might not be a bad Idea to run the unlocker again, seems like something is wrong. The driver should automatically install and should work just fine on a W7 64 bit pc.

Re: flashing problem

muahhhh it worked on my friends laptop, well i haven't flashed it yet but in device manager it showed that everything is working as it should be, but on my computer it says it cant find the drivers. We both have windows 7 ultimate 64bit and both have the latest updates....i dont get it, how come he can get the drivers and i cant??? is there a way i can get a copy of his drivers and install it on mine? i dont have a microsd small enough to flash, the one i have is 8 gigs @@ and i don't want to use other ppl's computer everytime i want to flash my phone

Re: flashing problem

Leo,

Running the self extracting unlocker will bring you into bootloader, but That is after Windows has already seen that your phone is connected. The question you asked was how I flash my phone, I apologize for the confusion. This is just how it works for me everytime.

Re: flashing problem

If you have the same OS then I don't know why one would work and the other won't. I wonder if there is a usb port problem with your PC. Did your PC come pre-loaded with Win7? If not, maybe you should contact your PC's manufacturer and see if there is some kind of usb update. Or maybe you have got some kind of conflict going on there that would cause the usb port to not function properly.

Re: flashing problem

no, i built my own pc. I have no idea as to why this is happening, i hope its just a bug in the OS and nothing wrong with the hardware....

Re: flashing problem

I have the same issues with the bootloader.
I believe the issue is windows7 64 bit not recognizing the phone when it enters the bootloader mode, it should be working off a separate driver identified by a modem of some sorts rather than the Microsoft Pocket PC driver it uses while in ActiveSync(WMDC)
I still cannot get any of my win7 64 bit systems to properly flash but i can get any xp 32 bit system to work easy. I'm wondering what driver we need to load into 64 bit 7 to get it to work without using an inferior OS to get this to function with regularity.
