Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
Obviously, there's an entire subforum, so the interest is around. But I was going to throw it in as an 'incentive' when I sell my Diamond. It has a bad esn so it would only be good for flashing roms and what not.
Is it even an incentive? Will it make a difference in the sale? Or should I just keep it in case anyone needs a phone on metropcs....? |
Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
Heck yeah!I'll take it if your gonna throw it away! lol :)Cute picture by the way! :)

Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
heck it would be useful for flashing roms out testing them if it still works. Im sure there would be plenty that would take it off your hands for whatever.

Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
Sweet, I'll post them both as soon as I can.

Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
how can a phone get a bad esn anyways?
to answer your question it does seem like there is a small surge of vogue users coming back. it is a cheap phone but not slow by any means. i do know alot of members will be getting new phones shortly like the hero and such. im one of them and my vogue will be going up for sale come november. i can tell you this much, i owned my first vogue in 2008, had it for awhile then bought a diamond, then got rid quickly of that and bought a blackberry. 2 months later got fed up and came back to the vogue. my point is, it is one of the more solid phones out there, i am shocked they even still sell it considering it is over 2 years old now but they do. also with android coming along pretty nicely with the vogues it does breath new life into them. |
Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
i was wondering just today how much longer the love for the vogue will go on? as i can see there really isn't many new roms out there and i see less and less posts in this forum and on the xda vogue section too.

Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
In my humble opinion fixxxer, the vogue seems to be just about dead... Sure there's still chefs (vin, me, nfsfan, nag, ghetto, jtuite) and sys porters (ali3n) But for the most part everything seems to be moving to VGA resolution, and the Vogue is aging.
Dont get me wrong, I LOVE my Vogue and will stick with it untill my contract expires, but it doesnt take a genius to see the Vogue is starting to see its end of days. But its had a good run, and will continue to "jog" along behind the others :) |
Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
im interested in the diamond if your wanting to sell please send me a pm

Sure, it doesn't have wifi, but I rarely used it on the titan/diamond/omnia. Sure, it only has a 400mh cpu, but snes/gba emulators don't run THAT slowly on it. Sure, it doesn't have a light sensor, but I turned that off on both the diamond and the omnia. Sure, it doesn't have a motion sensor, but I turned that off, too. In the end, the vogue is the best phone, for me, that I've used. I think it would be even better if it had 2 small buttons above the screen, like the titan. That's just for emulated games, though. Hehehe... JJ |
Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
i have a touch pro now and my daughter is using my vouge. she is getting another rumor for her bday and i am prob going to be switching back to my old vouge. main reason is screen is slightly larger. i am not liking the small screen on the tp. and i am not that impressed with the keyboard on my tp. i didn't have any problems using my touch screen for texting on the vouge.

Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
I managed the phones at my old company a year ago and could pick any phone I wanted for my personal use, and chose the Vogue. After I left the company I purchased a Vogue.
I like it because it will fit in ANY pocket, it light and unobtrusive. With the new custom ROMs it performs a lot better than when it was new. Waiting to see the HTC Touch 2!! |

I think the diamond has pretty well replaced it, though. I wish the jade would have been released with cdma. Here are my perfect specs for the touch2... cdma and gsm versions with the same hardware (I'm on alltel, go figure) wifi 3" - 3.2" 480x800 (I'm getting tired of seeing these 4" screens, I think the overall size of the omnia is about perfect) snapdragon (I noticed the diamond was noticeably slow with some vga games) 3mp - 5mp camera with autofocus and led (the omnia really jumped my expectations for cell cameras) extusb (the omnia had the standard samsung proprietary connector) 3.5mm headphone jack attached stylus (the omnia had one but it was separate) all day battery (the omnia would commonly be dead before I got home from work, the touch and diamond have great battery life) buttons (power on the top, volume on left-top, camera on right-bottom, two small buttons on the front-top, and a real 5-way on front-bottom, no soft-buttons all hard clicky buttons) resistive screen (I don't care how cool multitouch is windows mobile just isn't finger-friendly enough, if we could get away from little checkboxes and bars then capacitive and no stylus would work better) bluetooth microsdhc no hardware keyboard (that's what makes it a "touch") I think that's about it. I would buy that phone in a heartbeat. When you look at it, most of what I want is on the touch that we already love. It just needs a proper refresh. Those weren't in order of importance, but when I thought about them. To me, one of the biggest things that sets the touch apart from the new phones is the real 5-way buttons. That is something that phones seem to be loosing, and it's a real turn-off. Of course, I just bought the msi bgp100 (bluetooth gamepad for cellphones), so it may not be that big of a deal. I'd much rather be able to hold the phone, sideways, in my hands and play, though. JJ |
Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
I'm definitely anxious to get one of the new handsets that are on the horizon. The new larger higher definition screens are what I'm looking forward to the most since I watch a lot of video on my phone, and I really really want one of the phones that has a 5MP or better camera (kinda wanting the Omnia2).
That being said, I'm in no hurry to get rid of my vogue, it just works well =D>. I hardly ever have to hard reset, it has great battery life, and is easy to use. One of the good things that can be said about older devices such as the Vogue is that they have been "debugged". All the apps developed for these devices have been in use for awhile and refined extensively, all the reg edits/tweaks have been found and perfected, and solutions for most of the devices flaws have been discovered and fixed. When I do decide which new handset to purchase, I'll be putting the trusty ol Vogue into storage as a back-up handset, cause I know I can count on it. |
Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
The Vogue has been the best most reliable phone I have ever owned. Simple and intuitive strait out of the box and with limitless customizations if you have the paitience to learn. I'm due for a full upgrade now but will wait to see how many of the HTC models perform before I jump ship. When I do the old Vogue will still stay in the family. I just couldn't stand to let it go.

Well regular users. Not sure how many are actually unlocking/flashing the phone. I still wish I had my vogue as it was a really good phone except for the fact that I got tired of texting on it. I don't really think it will die off for the average user. but for the power user it is getting outdated. I mean every developer has done what they could to the phone, and it's modded like no other now. Quote:
But..I personally love keyboards(ones that aren't a major fail by HTC.) The 5way d-pad was really nice when it came to games, but now I have a gsensor that does all that for me with a tilt of the phone, so I don't mind that it's not on most of the phones. I kind of like the bigger screens also. but the novelty might wear off after a while, and I definitely wouldn't like screens much bigger than that on my phone. Quote:
Pointless to buy a phone that won't have the hardware necessary to take full advantage of the new OS. |

I don't know of many games that can replace the d-pad with the gsensor (marbleworld and a couple racing games). My biggest gaming on the cell phone is emulated games. If there are emulators that can do that, then I might reconsider. JJ |

So yeah, it should be out now. Plus if you have a actual keyboard, that's all the keys you need. You get to remap those keys to whatever you want so it's like a gaming controller. |

Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
The touch still rocks. Yeah its missing a g accelerator and wifi and there are some cool toys on the horizon but going on year 2 the touch is still great.
Seems alot of newbies are picking it up prob cause its very cheap now. Its fun to see some wide eyed newbies on here trying to figure out the power of this phone. Also seems to be a bunch of aps coming on line lately. |
Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
Yea the Vogue was great. Still is. My TP1 kept locking up on me so I reactivated my Vogue. Didn't go back to the TP1 after that. I've got the TP2 now but will still hold onto the Vogue. TP1 will most likely get recycled. A buddy of mine wants my Vogue badly. He had a Centro for a while and just got a Blackberry Curve, had it for a week and cant stand it. I feel bad for him but I just cant let go of my Vogue. :)

Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
You can get them on ebay for <$100. I just got my last one for $93 in prime condition and with accessories.

Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
I'm keeping my Vogue forever as a backup phone at the very least! Also to test out ROM's on before making the official jump with the primary HTC phone. Or a backup method for reading my microsd cards. For now though, I will be using it as my primary again since the Touch Diamond just isn't cracked up to what I thought it would be.
|
Re: Is the Touch/Vogue still popular?
I bet the fact that it's still popular led to HTC releasing the Touch2. This is what the Vogue should have been.. lol.. but I love mine. I'm going for the TP2 next but will keep this as a backup. I noticed though that after a year my battery is running low faster but I guess that's to be expected.

I saw it marked as the Mega, but not the Touch2, until now. Alas, gone are the 5-way buttons. It will be interesting to see what continues to come out for the cdma networks (this isn't). JJ |
