GPS without Data
 

The Touch will not start up the GPS without data and I was wondering if anyone has a cab that will bypass the request for data and allow GPS to be initialized. I tried to search but got many responses about GPS so I would like help to narrow it down.

Maybe if you go into the registry and disable AGPS (AssistedGPS) that would do it. Might take a while to get a lock though.

Wouldn't that disable the gps totally?

you could try the Advanced Configuration tool to disable the data connection. Thats what I use to disable Sprint Vision and other data stuff, so I can use Garmin without data, and also so I don't accidentily go online, which would use data.

I read your reply regarding using GPS without data. I disabled my data connection and AGPS by advanced config. But I don't know which version of Garmin wooks well in WM. Could you give me a link to download Garmin or transfer it by IMs?

I don't think so. It would disable the assistance of the cell data to pinpoint your location. That is why normally it is supposed to help get a faster lock .

It doesn't look good for this. I guess I will be letting the phone sit.

My GPS can be found in COM4 and it keeps starting up in GPS test. Terrible....
