Getting Dumped by Sprint
They say I am roaming too much and are dumping me as of sep 19th. WTF? Any links on how to switch my touch to verizon until the TD2 comes out?

Re: Getting Dumped by Sprint
You would just have to unlock and flash a rom and install the appropriate verizon carrier cab. Then contact Verizon and tell them what you want to do and you can get on their network. Or you could go to a Verizon dealer after you flash the rom you want and they can activate it. Lots of info and roms in the Vogue Upgrades Forum.

Re: Getting Dumped by Sprint
I moved from a area that has sprint network readily available to an area of very little available. I am roaming on us cellular towers at my house at all times and I only have periodic service in town. It is good and bad. Sprint is way cheap but I have no high speed internet. They called me and told me if I didn't quit roaming calls so much I would be dropped. Well they are dropping me.

DO U mean that, let's say Sprint's contract says, I get free roaming. there is a catch? I can only use it less than 50% of the time or else Sprint will drop me? WHat happen to the AMerica's most reliable or depandable network? or the best coverage in americ? Doesn't that soud like a fraud? |
Re: Getting Dumped by Sprint
Sprint dumped me in 2007 for the exact reason, and I was only roaming about 30% of 1 month. But I received a letter stating my 2 yr contract was being terminated for that reason. I paid my final bill switched to cricket and now I receive a collection letter for sprint every month for numerouse different amounts from different collection agencies. The funny thing is Sprint nor the collectors can provide me with any hard copy bills for the different amounts nor can they explain it to me.

If they can't explain it to you then they should clear the charge in my opinion... best of luck!

Re: Getting Dumped by Sprint
Sorry if this is a dumb question; what is TD2?

"Sprint may terminate service if (1) more than 800 minutes, (2) a majority of minutes or (3) a majority of data kilobytes in a given month are used while roaming." |

Don't forget. Neither Sprint, Verizon nor AT&T guarantee coverage at residential locations.

Re: Getting Dumped by Sprint
The thing is they have to pay US Cellular for your airtime and it must not be very profitable or maybe even costing them money.
It sucks but you can't really blame them though, why would Sprint keep you if they have to pay US Cellular more each month than you're paying to them, why else would they drop you. |
Re: Getting Dumped by Sprint

Re: Getting Dumped by Sprint
This confirms what the vzw rep told me the other day. I talked to a sprint rep who told me about the incredibly cheap (compared to vzw) data plans. Later I talked to a vzw rep who said sprint's coverage sux and that Sprint is going down fast. Course I didnt believe him but a little research indicates this is true...
Vzw rep told me that they are unlocking gps w/o vz navistupid "some time soon". Also said they may get the ibrick (ie iphone) soon. Blah blah blah. sprints demise is not a good thing. They seem to release the technology faster. vzw keeps trying to lock tech up so they can milk the $ out of it. |

Doesn't every supplier try to milk $ out of everything though? I mean when you buy a car, you pay extra for automatic locks, windows, etc. and I do mean extra since it's generally no more than like $20-30 each for the extra parts, and then they just pop right into the doors, and you end up paying thousands extra for all of that stuff already installed. I'd rather them lock everything up, and mark the phones cheaper, and then they can charge the not so tech savvy people for the extra features. We'll always be able to undo any locking down of items that they do. It's just the hardware modifications that they do that irritate me. I'm going to stop now, I can keep going on and on about the conglomerate *******s. Quote:
I remember everyone complaining about it. haha |

Re: Getting Dumped by Sprint
You should talk to a lawyer. I'm not a lawyer, but frankly that doesn't sound legal. They have an obligation to provide you with the contracted service through the two years that you signed. If your lifestyle changes so that you don't have service in your area you can't tell them, "I'm dropping you." They can't do that either. They do have rights though. When you sign a contract you and they are required to follow through with the promised consideration, and that cannot be terminated just because your roaming is costing sprint money.

Re: Getting Dumped by Sprint
UPDATE: Get this, I plan to shut my phone off and start a new plan for my wife and now they aren't shutting the phone off this month. I says whats the deal? They say that they don't have a letter on file about it and in order for this to be verified we would of had to first have a letter. So my last bill was not waived and I also put a deposit and phone purchase this month at verizon and I will still have to pay last months bill. Furthermore they said that the only lines that were targeted were the secondary lines and not the primary so I only get credited $9.99 for the extra lines and not the $99.99 for the primary. Although I told them MY line was the primary line and that they must have changed it with out me saying so. I also told them I added the two other lines and plan change to my line. Still they say no.
This is a bigger load of BS now and since they are doing this to me, I'll just set pocketweather to update every min while roaming at my house for the month. I am not going to make any payments and wait until this all this pans out and pay them 5 bucks a month for 3 years to pay it off. I swear you always get screwed leaving these businesses. |

I would just keep calling back, talking to a manager, keep a calm voice and be polite but firm about the situation, and you should atleast be able to get somewhere with the customer service managers. If you yell, cuss, etc at them, you are highly unlikely to get anywhere. |

I'm not a lawyer either, but I've had my fair share of run ins with the law, and I know quite a bit more than the average person. They wouldn't put that into the fine print if it gave you a loop hole. The point of the fine print is to say the company can do whatever they want whenever they want and you can't do anything about it. :P Quote:
I'm working on a few programs and a couple businesses I'm starting. Once they start up, I'll have plenty of more time to spend on the forums again. |
