GPS for cricket service
okay evreryone imma noob who just had his htc touch unlocked and switched over to cricket i hvae google maps on my phone but my GPS doesnt work it says i have to weak a signal does anyone know how i can solve this
|
Re: GPS for cricket service
Well, you can try to change your radio version. That might help but I am curious what kind of signal you are getting. Are you getting 2 bars or more? Are you getting the Ev symbol or the 1x symbol? If you are getting the Ev symbol you should have a strong enough signal for gps to work. Try opening up Google Maps directly following a soft reset after the phone has finished booting and see if you can get a signal. Also try downloading bing and see if you can get a gps lock with it. It is free as well. Good Luck!! You'll get it! :)

Re: GPS for cricket service
You can use QPST to change the following GPSone setting.
pde ip address 172.29.223.11 pde port # 8080 pde transport IP Position calculation mobile or Registry edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS ServerPort = 8080 ServerIP = 172.29.223.11 EnableAGPS = 0 EnableGPSSmart = 0 GPSMode = 1 If this helped hit the thanks if not let me know. |
Re: GPS for cricket service
I forgot to ask what ROM you are using are you running a custom ROM or a stock Verizon Sprint or Alltel. That can make a difference.

Re: GPS for cricket service

bing was unsuccessful as well

Re: GPS for cricket service
If you are only getting 1x and not getting EVDO then that may be why you are not getting a lock. Try calling your carriers 800 number and talk to tech support. Maybe they can help you troubleshoot your problem and make sure you have the correct settings entered. Or like I said earlier if you change your radio version you may get a stronger signal which will help gps.Call tech support first and try that. I'm sure it will be a free call. Then think about changing the radio.

Do you know if it's a Verizon ROM? Verizon OEM ROM's cripple GPS. To fix the 1x problem try looking at this post by Ryanmogul6800 on XDA http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=492824 it sounds as though you are not authinticated for EVDO. (easy process) For GPS I would recommend using QPST and changing the GPSone setting I mentioned above . As the other member recommended you can call cricket, but I don't think they will be much help they do not have good customer support for flashed phones and will most likely give you the spill that they only guaranty talk and text nothing more. Also please try the following http://www.4shared.com/file/12269007..._5_2_3_22.html this is ryansmogul's mms/wap fix cab and It works great. Also you can try this google maps that Ryan has packaged with astro GPS luancher. http://www.4shared.com/file/11293605...AstroWM65.html Check the GPS start menu, settings, connections, external GPS, com 4, hardware port none, baud rate 4800, advanced manage GPS automatically checked. also do you have a program on your phone called GPS veiwer. If so open it COM Port 4, Baudrate 4800, open Gps, cold start, then Gps status. To figure out the ROM go to start settings system device info. It should read like this Rom version 3.08.66.1 Rom Date 6/28/2008 Radio version 3.42.30 Protocol version Hardware version 0001 PRL version 38199 PRI version 2.01_011 Browser version ESN Also if its a verizon OEM ROM You may need to to reflash the RADIO and ROM to get the GPS working. |
Re: GPS for cricket service

Re: GPS for cricket service
im making some progress i checked out that thread and did the *228 and instanly got the evdo but everytime i go into a phone call it resorts right back to 1x or when i try to connect with my google maps... my phones not letting me do the ##778 call button thing all that happens is it makes the phone call and i get the hang up and try again voice over.... im almost there any suggestions folks thanks by the way guys

Re: GPS for cricket service
You can try ##778# (NO SEND) if that doesn't work you can Also go to this link and down load and install the diagnostic tools cab.It has a EPST link in it. This is Ryanmogul6800's 4share site and I give him all credit for any program He provides.
Phone calls will go through 1X and data will go through EVDO. |

1st you may want to try a different radio in my local area there is one radio for the Vogue that gets better locks than others. 2nd Your signal from the towers as well as sats you can try the following using QPST Go to the GPS1 tab and uncheck all the boxes then recheck them. then enter the following pde ip address 117.29.223.11 pde port # 8080 pde transport IP Position calculation mobile Write to phone close out Then Registry edit HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\SUPL AGPS ServerPort = 8080 ServerIP = 172.29.223.11 EnableAGPS = 0 EnableGPSSmart = 0 GPSMode = 1 I would start with QPST and make those changes then proceed on to upgrading the radio. cricKet does not officially support AGPS and they do not offer support for it, even though they do have it. They just haven't released it yet. |
Re: GPS for cricket service
JohnStewart, if no one has told you, yet, the reason you see the EVDO symbol change to a 1X when you're in a call is because Cricket doesn't allow you to use data and phone services at the same time. Only one service at a time, man. Did you get your GPS functioning? I'm working on getting my Mogul 6800 repaired and would like to know if it's worth it. If I can use GPS, then it's worth the $$$.

Re: GPS for cricket service
Whitey, where can I find the 38199 PRL?
The entire internet is void of it. I have a phone that I'm trying to extract it from, but it's an old Samsung that isn't playing nice with QPST, so no luck there. *228 isn't working in my situation, which is why I'm looking for the PRL. |
Re: GPS for cricket service

Why are you looking for it inparticular. Do you have a phone that's not OTASP'ing. Have you tried 1013 for OTASP. |
Re: GPS for cricket service
Yeah OTA fail, big time. Cricket doesn't have a good reason for me, as to why. I've flashed other phones, and helped others move WinMo phones to cricket. Just no luck here.
I tried, literally, every Cricket .PRL in the Corolada database, and every other one I could find that seemed like others had success. The phone receives texts, mirrored with the old phone that was using the service (if you turn on the old samsung qualcomm, you get the texts, just like the HTC), and if both phones are turned on, the call goes to the HTC, strangely. But calling out gives you the fast-busy signal. I'm about to flash my old LG EnV, extract the PRL with LG Tools, then move the .prl to the HTC, turn it on, and hopefully not need to *228. 38599 and 38699 are newer than 38199, but you mentioned 38199 in one of your posts, so I decided to ask. Was that a c/p from another post? If so, I'd quickly seek the OP to find it! Thanks for your help anyway. It's really appreciated. **edit*** This is the post where you have it listed: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.p...20&postcount=8 It's post #8 in this thread. I've been trying to Google hunt for where it came from. I'd love to find who has that PRL! |
Re: GPS for cricket service

1st change the following in EPST CDMA setting EVRC enabled = enable Home page = EVRC Home Orig = EVRC Roam Orig = EVRC The above should take care of the fast busy signal. Double check that you have everything correct in EPST MIN MDN MSID SID NID I didn't actually have the PRL in that post I was only giving an example. But if I locate it I'll post it for ya. and yes it does exist. Also where are you located again. |
Re: GPS for cricket service
Give these a try they are some old and new PRL's.
