Help!!! Phone stuck at soft reset, how to retreive info?!

I installed a local language support on my brother-in-law's vogue, and the phone did a soft reset for the changes to apply. unfortunately it keeps on getting stuck at the windows mobile screen and will not reach the home screen.
Is there a way to retreive his contacts and other files (recordings, calendar etc.) before I preform a hard reset.
Please help immediately as it's not my phone and I feel awful.

If you hook it up to a computer and have it boot and get stuck on the Windows Splash, does it come up with ActiveSync?

just suck it up and hit that hard reset. ive had to do it...it sucks but you neeed a phone

No, the computer won't recognize the phone. Thanks for your help, guys. I guess I'll just have to do that hard reset.

well its alittle too late for that. he has to hard reset and THEN install that haha nice find by the way

My problem seems very similar to above....My Verizon XV6900 Vogue is frozen on the boot at the windows mobile screen and I didnt have my contacts or data backed up. Verizon couldn't do anything for me and HTC said same (adding the boot file probably got corrupted). It seemed like it hung when I access contacts (maybe I shouldn't have approx 500 contacts...) so I pressed the soft reset button and it never booted again - it goes past the red verizon smoke screen and hangs on the green windows mobile screen. I almost understand that I could run a bootfile from the sd card but don't know what to do. Verizon gave me a new one under warranty and I have 10 days to return this one.
