Unknown files in the root of my 6900
I have noticed that the following files have appeared in the root of my device and are marked as system files.
Does anyone know what they are, and why they have appeared so suddenly? mxip_initdb.vol ............52k mxip_lang.vol ..............28k mxip_system.vol .........152k cemail.vol.................. 204k mxip_swmgmt.vol ....... 132k mxip_notify.vol ...........136k I do not use SMS or Text messaging. Any help would be graciously appreciated. |

Re: Unknown files in the root of my 6900
Shhh! don't be posting about this! Those files are to help the aliens track you. Do you want to start a galactic war??
Just Kidding!!!! The mixip files hold system settings. cemail is the email client settings, lang is the language (ie-English) and the others hold other system settings and info like contacts. They "appeared" when the device booted, and when you added your contacts and started getting emails etc, and you probably either just noticed them or unhid them with file explorer settings. They are normal, and shouldn't be messed with unless you want to create some real wierd errors and make you have to hard reset. |
Re: Unknown files in the root of my 6900
He should run a custom rom where most chefs don't include file explorer type programs. That way there will be no snoopin and E.T. won't have to kill you after little E.T's take you away.... lol.

Thanks all ! Yes, I think that File Explorer revealed them and I just didn't notice. I added the Hou Ming FE extension which might have done it.
Ok, they stay where they are. Much appreciated.=D> |

Re: Unknown files in the root of my 6900
Actually guys we should further investigate how to remove this volume files and spread the work to HTC users.
What is happening as of March 8th 2011, most if not all GSM service providers are launching new service plans to limit our current data usage. Most of this is to prohibit the use ot tethering devices as a modem or use as a Wi-Fi hot spot. I have contacted HTC tech support for information regarding these files. You can do a factory reset( Do not recommend doing this if you have rooted your device.) These files were embedded into all users smart phones with out our knowledge to block lock certain parameters on your service. If anyone has any insight on how to assess and remove/delete any root, volume or system files on the HTC running Windows 6.5 I would love to know. Please email me and I will give you my number to text me. *** Spread the word!! We need to bypass this as soon as possible or our cellphone providers will limit service and charge us between $30-$60 extra a month for the same usage!! :cwm10: |
