Why do WM Pro phones go ABSURDLY slow during 1X/text?

This is unfuriating. I'll admit it's worse on my Vogue than any other phone I've used, but it still rings true that they slow down considerably.

Sometime I work in a server room with a lot of RF and poor signal--right now, for example. This phone is CRAWLING. Screen is barely refreshing, and I find myself having to soft-reset just to convince it to do anything. Without fail, the second I leave this room, my phone will speed right back up to normal.

Also related to this, is why the heck do these phones, particularly the Vogue, slow down so considerably when a text is coming in? It's almost as if the 1X radio uses a ton of CPU. I always know when a text is coming in, because I lose the ability to type for about 3 seconds.

Does anyone NOT have this problem--and does anyone know why this happens?

Thanks... I tried searching but it's hard to find anything with 1X.

Had my vogue since it came out on Sprint. mine does stutter when i get a text, but nothing infuriating...

Plus i learned that when i have several texts going back and forth that i need to be aware of what im typing, cause when the text comes in it will eff up your t9, and just pic whatever was selected when the text came through.

EDIT: Maybe the Pre will be what you are after. I hear that WebOS is something else. :)

I will have the Pre as soon as unhumanly possible ;)

I am still genuinely curious as to why the phone slows down so much from a friggin text message... Why would 1X cause the phone to slow down either? It's like my phone starts tripping over itself. Perhaps because I am a heavy background data user? I would just assume that would make those tasks take longer--not slow down the CPU.

I had a Pro for a bit, and it even slowed down when I got a text. When I run Android on my phone, I never notice a slow-down. I suppose it's just WM. :(

How long do you run Andriod at time? I hear if you're not careful you end up with all kinds of background processes sucking the life out of your Vogue.

I've really only ran it twice. It's far too buggy to do anything but show it to friends. I've never heard about those background processes though. Thanks for the heads up. I flash about 10 times a week, so I wonder if I could even notice if I was having issues with those ;)

I well the image is stored on your sd card, but since you are reseting a lot i guess not. Also, the newest version, 1.1, has everything functional except bt an gps... Martin is doing an incredible job porting everything.

I just loaded 1.1 two days ago, and it seems smooth, but I could not get the internet to work--no matter what I did. I always had an active connection going into Android. I even changed my login username in the default.txt.

Do we have to change our password in that file too? I thought Sprint didn't verify passwords.
