cancel customizations?

Hey all, I'm flashing my VX6900 for the first time, and I think I have it all planned out, but I still have a couple questions that I can't seem to find anywhere.

I was planning on flashing the official VZW 6.1 ROM and not letting customizations run, since a lot of people are having problems with getting GPS if they do. Everyone says to cancel the customizations, but I've never seen an exact explanation of how. When I flash will it say it is running customizations, and at that point what do I do? Hit the reset button with the stylus, or do the full camera button + power + reset? In the official readme there are screenshots but none of them say anything about customizations, just one progress bar saying the ROM is being updated.

Will it then boot normally into WM 6.1 so i can run the unlocker, or will it attempt to run the customizations again?

Then I run the unlocker, and do the hard reset (camera+power+reset)?

Then once it is in the tri-color screen, I can flash a custom ROM and do the aGPS fix. Did I miss anything extremely important. It's kinda hard to keep track of everything when you are piecing together info from 4-5 different threads that are constantly changing.

Thanks for any help. I just wanna make sure everything is planned out, and minimize surprises.

When u will see small window, where sais customization starts in 5sec and coundown, simply do soft reset before it ends countdown(stick the stylus into the hall next to mini usb port).Customization installs carriers stuff(like software store, music store and junk like that). Some people like it some not...If U dont wanna see those applics then do it,if not let it run.Either way it will not affect functionality of your touch

Thank You. Got it all figured out, and successfully upgraded to NFSfan's ROM. Works great. Still working on getting GPS up and running.

NFSFAN, has carrier specific ROMs. Why would you need to cancel customizations...Also his ROMs are very much GPS ready...

Yeah,I noticed that new version of google maps gets GPS signal much much faster than older one.

Well congrats on your speedy success Willy... I haven't been as successful. I have a touch diamond and was able to unlock it and flash it with a couple different roms. I think I have OMJ's now.

Anywayzzzz, RadioShack had the touch mp6900 for sprint for only 19.99 with activation, so I got my Boyfriend to buy one and I have not been able to unlock it successfully with cokeman's unlocker so it can be flashed. I want to try nsfans' rom too.

My boyfriend doesn't care about this stuff like I do, but I just want his phone to be ALMOST as cool as my Diamond. I warned him about "bricking" so he's reluctant to let me keep trying to flash it.

Wish me luck!!! **Oh and to anybody who wants to help me... this is a discreet cry for help. Also, I read these forums at least 5 days per week since I joined, so if you really want to help, don't just tell me to READ. **

Honestly....I just bought a vogue for 50 bucks for a tests from the craighslist. It was "bricked".rainbowscreem ,hard reset didnt worked.Guy gave up and sold it,and I fixed it within 10 minitus.I think he tryed to unlock to talk and failed. What Im trying to say is the brick is not always a brick :) Its all about knowledge.I flashed my brand new vogue 176 times.works like new(it 2 months old).Just dont ruin the radio, the rest is no big deal!

Well, in reading through many threads, a lot of people said they had problems getting GPS working if they let the customizations run since it locks down the GPS for VZnavigator. I didn't know that I didn't need to worry about it. Still pretty new at this stuff.

So since NFSfan's ROM is totally GPS ready, do I not need to worry about doing the aGPS fix as well?

Brandi: I found this website to be extremely useful in planning it out.

NFSfan should know better, but I think, there is nothing to worry about.U can put 10 more GPS applications on top of the ROM and they are all should work just fine(if they are a good applications).

Finally got the aGPS fix to work, and got GPS up and running. Only thing about NFSFAN's is you don't have to do the registry edits after the fix as he already included them in the ROM.

Thanks for everyone's help. :headbang:
