How to install roms through virtual pc
I have a question. I am using windows 7, and for the life of me i cannot get it to connect to my phone through the windows device center so everytime i have to connect to my phone i have to use xp on the other partition. But this is a hassle.
I installed Microsoft Virtual PC, and setup an XP machine. I cannot get it to read and connect to my phone through the usb. However, i havent ever really set one of these up so anyone who can offer any advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks |
Re: How to install roms through virtual pc
I got it to work using the Windows Mobile Device Center that you can download (download the vista version). Install MDC, then plug your phone in and wait for the drivers to be detected by MDC. I know I can explore and mess with the phone, but I'm not certain if I can run roms.

Re: How to install roms through virtual pc
I have been running Windows 7 since the day they released the beta to public. I remember when I first plugged the phone in WMDC didn't detect the phone properly. I disconnected it and put the CD in that came from Verizon and installed the HTC drivers...after this WMDC did connect.
On the other hand...when I first attempted to upgrade to the official VZW WM6.1 upgrade a week or so ago, I did run into a little trouble...seems like the computer needed different drivers to do this process. Basically the first attempt failed b/c Windows 7 was taking awhile to install the correct drivers. I left the phone plugged in, exited the ROM installer, waited for the device to be fully configured, and then re-ran the program. It successfully flashed the device. Hope this helps with what you're having trouble with. Prob just need to install the HTC drivers first. The WMDC software was included with the beta release of Windows 7, at least on mine it was. |

virtualpc doesn't support usb connections
