BuildOs Problems

Ok, I have come across something that has me stumped. I just installed BuildOs and tried to run the updater and I come across this error:

ERROR:
Can't connect to the server. Probably the server that is hosting the update information is offline or not reachable. Please try again at a later time.

I am using CricKet Broadband for my internet. Running XP Pro, the newest .net framework, and all Windows updates are current. There is no firewall active or anything like that.

Now, here is where I get stumped. If I connect up with my phone to the internet (tether) the updater works just fine. The problem is, this option will take forever and a day. I really would like to use my broadband connection.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Try posting this at ppckitchen or at this thread http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=46528

You may have the latest .net framework 3.5 but you will still need 2.0 that is recommended http://www.microsoft.com/Downloads/d...displaylang=en

I have it posted at ppckitchen, but as of yet am waiting for a response there. I will download and install the .net framework 2.0 and see if that helps.

Thanks for the response.

Re: BuildOs Problems

Well, after checking around I found that I already have the net framework for 1, 2, and 3.5 installed in my computer. I guess that isn't the problem. I can't get this figured out. I would just tether to do the updates, but my tether connection drops after about 10 minutes, and that won't even get through the first BuildOS update. I need to figure out why my CricKet Broadband won't connect up to the updates. This doesn't make sense to me why cricket internet connects up through tether but not on broadband.

Anyone have any ideas?

Thanks

Re: BuildOs Problems

Try just updating portions at a time instead of the intire update, select one part and update, and so on!!!

I tried that when I got it to connect via tethering. It still took long enough that my connection timed out or something...disconnected on me. I can't get my desktop to connect via CricKet Broadband and for some reason nobody can figure out why. I am really starting to get upset. I just hope myself or someone else can get this figured out soon.

This is just upsetting. I am about to pick up a Sprint Diamond and was wanting to flash it over to CricKet. My old computer had BuildOS in it and it worked fine, for some reason, I just can't get the updater to work now no matter what I try.

Have you turned turning off your firewall

Re: BuildOs Problems

Yep...the firewall is off. Has been from the start. I can get to ppckitchen.org just fine, and the updater runs off the same server so I have no idea why I can't get the updater to work.
