Backing up contacts
I have vista on my computer as well as Mobile device center. I do not use a microsoft e-mail client. How can I back up my contacts so I can do a hard reset on my phone?
Thanks so much Rob |

PIMbackup is a good program

Re: Backing up contacts
Yes, you can also sync your device with the WMDC and make sure that you select "Contacts" as one of the items that you want to sync.
Also, another option is dashwire. dashwire.com, create account, download software, sync, hard reset, reload software, resync. |

Re: Backing up contacts
I believe that Vista has a contact management program... I can't recall the name or where to find it. ( sorry I use Outlook)
I will check more on it from my laptop or home computer. (at work right now) |

Re: Backing up contacts
Use PIMBackup, your PC operating system won't matter. Just install PIMBackup on your storage card and save the backup file there. Then do your hard reset and restore from your storage card. I'm pretty much an idiot and it works quick and easy for me.

Re: Backing up contacts
Contacts are stored in a file called "pim.vol" in the main device folder. I just copied this file to a folder on my storage card and if I somehow ruin my contacts (hard reset or whatever), I just copy the saved file back to the main folder of my device. I think a backup program is better, plus you can manage your contacts from your computer with Outlook and Activesync, but if you want a simple way to save and restore your contacts, here it is.
