Cant find the noob guide :)
Just got my replacement xv6900 and am looking to put the new ROM from htc on it.
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=32575 I would like to do whatever steps are involved to do this, however Ive read about 5-6 threads already, and they all have different little things about them, and I am not sure if they are specific to those roms, or what and now Im more confused than I was before. So im basically looking for the noob guide. Step 1, do this Step 2, install run this etc.... From what i gather, I need to first unlock my phone? http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370 I would be 0.40(nonGPS) correct? Then what? Install kitchen? another app? what? There has to be a question similar to mine around here, or another thread detailing, what i need to do. Any help is greatly apprenticed. Thanks in Advance. |
Re: Cant find the noob guide :)
First run the 2.31.coke unlocker. Once you're successfully unlocked then flash your carrier's 3.xx ROM. This basically means that it is a GPS enabled ROM.
This will also Flash and upgrade the radio. Now you're unlocked and can flash a custom GPS ROM. Method 1: 1. Run 2.31.coke unlocker 2. Flash Carrier Official ROM Upgrade 3. Flash Custom ROM of your choice Method 2: 1. Flash Carrier Official ROM Upgrade 2. Run 2.31.coke unlocker 3. Flash Custom ROM of your choice EITHER METHOD WILL WORK That's about as Plain Jane as it can get. Hope this helps and good luck. Once you have these basics down then you can download and install the PPCKitchen and build your own ROM. I recommend starting slow though. |

Re: Cant find the noob guide :)
ok, i think I was just running the downloaded exe instead of the rom update utility, which is what im supposed to be running correct?
I just exe, must be a program, didnt think that it would unrar things, then you need to go into the install dir to excute the program you need. |

Re: Cant find the noob guide :)
I know this is a old thread, but was a solution to the 64bit problem found yet?

Re: Cant find the noob guide :)
The purpose of sleep4.exe is just to pause for 4 seconds to wait for the current step to complete. So when the Windows 7 "Unsupported 16-Bit Application" box comes up, just wait 5 seconds, then click "OK". Repeat for all boxes, and it'll work as expected!
