how to make my phone not work...
 

im looking to either brick my phone, or some how just make the phone feature not work. i was able to not allow data to work or internet. but im hoping to be able to get a diamond. I called up my local sprint store, and they told me that the phone would have to not be able to make calls, and they would have to replace it right there.


any ideas?

haha. that would be great, but not covered by the insurance. i cant remember what registry key i had to edit. and they wont replace any more phones due to physical damage for me

they can fix that. When I first got my Touch I was updating it to the 6.1 sprint rom when my computer crashed..I brought the "bricked" phone to sprint and they were able to finish the update.

How about doing the right thing and buying the Diamond, then selling your Touch?

see, thats one thing i was kinda afraid off. the first time i did it, i had the wrong coke loader, so theres no way to fix that. hence why i would want to just edit the registry

umm, i don't wana sound stupid but if you disable your phone function in registry i would assume that sprint technicians would figure it out in couple of minutes. or am i wrong?

Be Fun If You Just Take Out The Battery And In Two Days Say Its Lost, Call In And Tell Em It Lost .... And Then They Will Inform You That You Have An Allowance To Upgrade And Use That To Get The Diamond Upgrade , Then Sell Me YouR Touch For 5 Dollars For Bad Esn For The Insitfull Information So I Can Brick It.as Im Gonna Wait Till The New 2009 Versions With Better Os,ram Mem & Ecelleration Abiltys

i wouldn't try and cheat as sprint employees do read this site.how long have you been with sprint?maybe even try the *2 route and just explain that you want to upgrade.now if you're trying to get a free upgrade,good luck with that.

Any physical damage done by yourself/lost/stolen requires you to call Asurion and pay a $50 replacement fee and 99% likely just get a regular Touch replacement.

Wonder if there is a simple way to mess up one or more of the buttons to make it seem defective so they'll have no choice but to replace it with the diamond. I don't want to take the chance and find out that I would have to call Asurion.

If anyone have a better idea, let me know. I too would like to upgrade to the diamond.

I completely agree. I have never asked for a free upgrade, or taken my phone in for arbitrary reasons, but when I do actually have a real problem, they have always gone above and beyond my expectations.

You are probably between the ages of 13 and 21 and are acting like a 4 year old. Buck up, be a responsible adult, and pay for something for once in your life. If you want a brand new phone every time something cool comes out then buy it. Don't cheat people and lie about things to get it. If I found out who you were I'd have you fined and/or jailed for it. Get a life and a job and experience life other than what your mom has handed you on a silver platter your whole life.

umm. i just have nothing but issue. i get my free upgrade in january. i have a **** load of issues with this phone. it can not be physical damage!!! i have broken 6 already. im a field engineer and i like to do extreme sports. so they said no more. so it has to just fail. i could care less if i get an upgrade, though it would be nice.

1. Learn how to use and mod your phone and you wont have "issues".

2. Why dont you just want till January? Its only a couple weeks away.

3. Maybe you should get a rugged Powervision/Nextel phone then?

4. Leave your phone in your car or bag then and not in your pocket.

I bricked my last 6800 on purpose, it took about 2 hours to get it stuck on the bootloader screen. I think I loaded an older radio and then a ROM that was only compatible with a newer radio.

Sorry, it was about 3 months ago. Thats a long time when I'm flashing new ROMs weekly (sometimes daily). :)

1. Well start with a clean rom, if its not physical damage then start with a clean 6.1 rom with nothing added.

2. Insurance from a corporate repair center = TEP .. What they use to "diagnose and fix" your phone in the store is ESRP which is part of TEP.

Trust me, I know what im talking about Mike.

Just do a hard reset and just start with a bare 6.1 rom.

And if you'll be away from home what's keeping you from finding a corporate repair center near your workplace? If you are getting a "free upgrade" then why dont you find another store or call Customer Service and have them "upgrade" you then send the phone to your location. Who cares if you are not at home. Tell them how you are away from work and they'll consider sending it to you to where you are.

And could you give us more details to your "policy"?

I've had workers from UAWs, GM, Ford, Hospitals, and other coporate companies that do not have their own "policy" to get their phones replaced/fixed.

They go to a corporate Sprint store and use their TEP in store like regular customers. Even if they do not pay for insurance or their rate plan.

So could you post and give us details to what your "policy" is Mike?

yeah, i can get it. im not going to post all the details, as ive seen what people like to do on the internet. but we have sprint repair stores that offer there own policy. its not through sprint, or assurion. i payed 100 bucks for 3 years. this included repairs, and i pay 25 bucks for a new phone.

This is the exact reason that the rest of us have so much trouble when we have a legitimate issue. Not to mention it is also why our rates go up and we have to pay $50 for a legit replacement.

I hope you realize that the rest of us are basically paying for your new phone. Enjoy it!

Wah. I have been effed over by verizon and their lousy phones long enough. Every (let me stress again) EVERY phone I have ever had through them has turned out to be junk. The only time I have used this trick is when I was having legit problems. Just not enough to make them replace it again. I just... helped it a little.

love reading when you "saints" get on your moral soapbox and "remind" everyone "IN CAPS" that it is wrong and illegal to commit insurance fraud. I mean, you are right and I won't fault you for that. But tell me, do you really think it makes a difference? Do you think that when you say that, the sinners tremble in fear? Please, everyone knows its wrong and illegal. You all posted in here for the same reason I am posting this response........to draw attention to yourself and get noticed, not because you had a startling revelation or something profund to say. Mind you that TEP for Sprint used to be alot cheaper than $7 that it is now and back when Lockline was still the 3rd party phone insurer for Sprint you could make an a whole lot of phone claims per year. People abuse it and look how TEP turns out today. Its more expensive and you are limited to how many claims you make in a 12 month time frame.

My backyard as well as my front yard is always clean. Seeing that my neighbors cut their grass and do landscaping every 3-4 days I thought I kept mine well and helped my dad whenever I could. I went to my neighbors and asked them myself how about landscaping tips and so forth and I saved some time and make my yards look better than before. I'm not saying that I am better than anyone else on this site or my personal life but I dont preach in front of my church but I am a leader of my church youth group and I am a really good role models to my kids that I teach to.

And I never threatened anyone. Just letting them know what happens when they make a decision that will trickle down to millions of other people.

I dont know how many times I can repeat this to everyone. i can type it in other languages, make a video, do what ever is needed. this is not through sprint, its not TEP, its nothing any of you have. its fine, i ended up taking care of it. but thank you all.

and i do love the ill report you comments, and its illegal. I had no idea about this. but its ok, i have built an underground shelter with years of food and water. i dont want to goto jail
