xv6900 Leaked rom and valhalla Cab help

I am new to this flashing and upgrading thing. But i do know that I don't like having my phone options controlled by Verizon. I did Flash to Mobile 6.1 using the Verizon "Leaked" rom update. Now I started looking into the GPS fix used on the xv6800 that is suppose to work on the xv6900.

I downloaded the Valhalla GPS cab...but the instructions say "intall it"? How do you install it? This is where i am lost?

Can someone help me? Thanks.

My goal is to use the Verizon 6.1 upgrade with the valhalla GPS fix and run Google maps.

Open File Explorer and navigate to where you saved the cab file and click on it. It is just like an exe for your pc.

The Valhalla fix is installed via cab. So you copy the cab to your device through Activesync and then click on it on your device. It should do all the installation for you and then you soft reset after youre done.

No worries...thats what we are here for. Be aware that if you choose to use a nav package that it MUST support the gpsapi.dll format. It cannot support only COM ports, or you are baked.

Re: xv6900 Leaked rom and valhalla Cab help

Are there any improvements to use the Valhalla cab gps fix over the agps fix for the xv6800 as posted here: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index...VerizonAGPSFix

The reason I ask is because I already applied the xv6800 agps fix, and it seems to be working 95% of the time with quick fix with Google map. The other 5% it just won't get a lock and I either have to wait it over or restart to phone to get a lock.

Is the valhalla fix any better, or more importantly, is it ok to apply the valhalla fix over the xv6800 agps fix, as the latter is kind of here to stay as it survives a hard reset.

Thanks for any insights.

Skywing's fix is only for MR1. So if you have not installed MR1 and let customizations run there is no need for it. my numbers with the aGPS fix from GC was about 98%. Not perfect but a hell of alot better than the suffering without it.

Thanks Steve,

So looks like the Valhalla cab is not a replacement for the agps fix. Btw, what is MR1? I've been doing kitchens all the time, and only flash the rom in order to get the radio updated. The only reason I am interested in the verizon leak rom is the radio, which I hope can fix the signal bars "swinging-from-zero-bar-to-full-bars-and-back-again" problem.

Could you explain it further? My GPS works perfectly with google, livesearch and amaze, but it does not work with iguidance. Could you please tell me which of the following would work with vallhalla cab? TomTom7, Garmin XT, iGo8, Navigon Mobile Navigator?

Ok -- so is there a solution for those nav apps that support only COM ports?
