Wanted: Good bare ROM with upgraded radio + GPS
 

Alright, I've done many many many searches and I can't seem to find one easy way to upgrade my Touch's ROM so that my battery doesn't die. I have flashed on the latest Sprint official ROM, but I really hate the included software crap because for one, I never use Sprint TV nor do I use the included Nav. Also--THAT VERSION OF OPERA SUCKS.

Plus, an updated/cleaner interface would be nice.

I would really like the updated radio so my battery doesn't die in 6 hours, and a better GPS (faster connecting) would always be nice.

Also, please dumb it down as much as possible as I'm a bit of a n00blet to this whole phone thing. :newb:

I appreciate any and all help.

This is the best clean ROM I have ever used. I am running it again, after trying most of the new M2D ROMs, and added M2D on my own and it still runs faster and smoother than any other M2D ROM. I think that there will be a Manilla ROM here soon as well, but I feel it is the best ROM out there!

I'm sorry, I am going to ask alot of questions because my phone is very important to me and I cannot risk killing it.

Do any of these require unlocking and can I run the OE ROM after unlocking?
Do any of these have or require updated radio?

all custom ROMs require unlocking...Most all tell you the specific directions to upgrading with the ROM of choice, they will tell you this You must have a radio version of 3.35+ to flash this ROM! Which is pretty self explanatory that you must upgrade before hand by flashing your carrier specific newest available ROM...This will upgrade ROM/Radio version on your phone then you can unlock... You can rum what ever ROM you want after unlocking just make sure the radio version is not being downgraded as this post explains http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26082 both these posts by ImCoKeMaN explain in great detail the importance of what I just told you.

I am looking for the same thing. A good bare bones rom.

I just flashed to this rom and I am not sure how you can consider it a good bare bones rom. A bare bones rom should only have the basics, not non standard programs.
I am downloading this and will report back to what I find.

You might just try going to ppckitchens and build your own clean rom with the Build OS.
