Unknown Driver needed (Generic Serial)

I have broadband access on my htc touch through verizon and when I set it up on my phone then connect it to my laptop it says driver not found and its something called generic serial, can not find the driver anywhere, however sometimes when it does the auto search it finds it but then says (file qcmdmxp.sys on htc driver disk is needed) any suggestions?

Re: Unknown Driver needed (Generic Serial)

I am having trouble installing this driver on windows vista home premium. i set up my phone to where i am going to use it as a modem and i get the missing driver info. I then run the exe and it still doesn't find the driver. i went into control manager and found my touch listed as a generic serial. i told it to update the driver but it can't find it, either. i specified c:\windows\windowsmobile\drivers but that didn't help.

does anybdy know the location of where the driver gets installed?

Re: Unknown Driver needed (Generic Serial)

the driver you need is qcmdmxp.sys
its in C:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers

Just direct it to that path.

Re: Unknown Driver needed (Generic Serial)

I just upgraded to an HTC Imagio and I'm having problems getting it to work as a modem on my new Windows 7 laptop. It's an HP Pavilion DV6-1360us running in 64-bit mode. After installing VZAccess Manager and plugging in the Imagio via USB, it tries to install the drivers. It succeeds in installing the LSI HDA Modem driver, but then it can't find the Generic Serial driver.

Does anyone know what the problem might be, or what to try for solutions? Does anyone have VZAccess Manager working with an Imagio on Windows 7 in 64-bit mode?

Because I'm lazy and don't feel like looking for the link I will just tell you go up top to the stickies to my cricket Vogue tutorial browse down the page a bit until you see the blue for Vista users, use that driver and see if it will work for you.
