Downgrade the bootloader?
I have to send a vogue in to HTC for a screen alignment issue. Should I downgrade the bootloader to the original? I've read on here that it's not a wise move but am wondering if I will have a prob getting it fixed if I don't. I already flashed the stock 6.1 ROM onto it.

Re: Downgrade the bootloader?
I assume that you had ImCokeMan's 2.31 un-locker? If so, when you flash a custom ROM it won't over write the SPL. This way you're not unlocking the phone each time you flash a new ROM. This is how it works on the Mogul. Then you re-lock it before flashing to a stock or signed ROM. BUT - With the Touch/Vogue, you actually need to flash to the signed ROM first (stock ROM is what the phone came with, signed ROM is an official update from HTC or your carrier, which is what all of the GPS and WM 6.1 ROMs are), which it sounds like you have, and then downgrade the SPL to 0.40. While the 2.31 un-locker isn't overwritten when you load stock or signed ROMs the 0.40 is! At that point, you need to reflash the signed ROM AGAIN. This overwrites the 0.40 un-locker with the stock SPL (2.01.1000 on Sprint for GPS ROMs) and now your phone is official AND locked all at once.

Re: Downgrade the bootloader?
Wow. I'm a windbag! Sorry about that. Here's the short version:
Downgrade to the 0.40 un-locker; Flash the signed (official) ROM. Here's where to find the un-lockers: http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=20370 |
Re: Downgrade the bootloader?
Thanks for the reply. A little late but oh well. At least now I know for future reference. I actually sent the phone in yesterday so i'll hope for the best.
