Using phone while charging
 

hey i have a touch by htc and i would like to know if there is a tweak to fix the way my phone charges! okay so i notices that when my phone is charging and i am using it the battery continues to lower percentage down instead of charging! is there a way to fix this! is there a way i can use my phone and charge it at the same time without it dying on me while on the charger! thanks in advance!

my goodness, what do you want from the poor phone? let it charge some then use it. your too chatty. poor phone

Use the stock HTC charger. It provides quite a bit more power than other chargers like car chargers or using the USB cable. Even more than the Motorola wall chargers.

Is this lmore linked to the mAhr rating of the standard battery?

I found the same thing while using tomtom navigator and playing tunes into the hire car I had, battery got very hot and 2 hrs later I unplugged it and the red light came on along with the warning about main battery low, to prevent data loss...
Did the same thing later the same day with my double size battery and it did not loose charge, it gained charge over the 2 hrs.

Maybe it's even the charging circuit, doubt it can be addressed via a software tweak though.

you shoulnd't use the phone while on the charger period. however if you charge using the wall plug it will charge a lot quicker than car or USB charger. charging the phone with the charger and using it at the same time will kill your battery and make the phone extremely hot gathering heat from the radio and the charging unit.

Do you have a source for your claim that using the phone while it is charging will kill the battery quicker?

Also does anyone know if it is bad to use a charger with higher AMPS. e.g. I have another mini usb charger for a GPS unit that does 5v 2amp, the HTC wall charger is 5v 1amp

For the best battery longevity, you are right, a full cycle, totaly flat to trickle charged full would be best, but who has time to do this with a phone?
I do this all the time with my 2000mAhr 7.2v RC car cells, but It's inconvenient to do it with a phone battery.

I want convenience, and if it cuts the batterys life in half so be it! :twisted:

actually with Li-on battery design, allowing the battery to reach empty decreases it's longevity.

well the reason i am asking is because since my phone has radio stations (www.1club.fm) and xm radio....i usually plug in my phone with my car radio but while plugged to radio and charger the battery keeps lowering --- i used to use my palm cetro as well with car radio and when i plugged the phone with charger and used the phone charged at the same so the battery didn't die unlike with the touch! but if anyone has a tweak or suggestion on how i can use my touch while charging and not die please let me know......thanks in advance....will appreciate

how about an extended battery? it would give you more time before discharge... that sounded gross lol.
