active sync at startup again (not from auto time)
sorry to bother again, just curious as to if anybody knows why active sync is starting up randomly.. (i have disabled sync time.. from phone settings)
what is causing this to startup? i have searched... either i am not a good searcher, or the searching on this is a bit weak? thanks again for your time! pj |
Re: active sync at startup again (not from auto time)
well, looks like you've tried the easy fix, but I wonder if it's still triggered with a time change... perhaps the phone sometimes forgets to keep time and when it wakes up it adjusts the time and thats what triggering it.. for a better fix/search try Repllog.exe also look for any instances of that in the notifications area of your preferred task/process manager.
another thought, could this be a certain charger your using? some trigger the usb link. |
Re: active sync at startup again (not from auto time)
thanks for posting..
i noticed with DH's black vista ROM, i have the phone plugged in to A/C.. and teh backlight never goes off (it is set to go off in 3 minutes if plugged in) used to turn off... now it doesnt... so, its not turning off on me.. i was using my phone, active sync was there, i closed it.. put the phone down (still plugged in charging) and walked away.. came back 3 hours later... phone backlight was still on... and active sync was back in the Taskmanager... pj |

Re: active sync at startup again (not from auto time)
i was getting tired of activesync always running so i checked the notifications using dotfreds task man and found like 5 entries for activesync if you turn them all off then activesync wont even connect when you plug to computer... theire is probably only 1 or 2 that cause it to randomly start have not had time to do a trial and error to see wich one...
edit: ok so after looking at the notifications again just now found only 3 1 is for detect usb connection one is for time change and the other is for detect rnds or something like that...disable the time change and active sync should only open when you connect to pc.... |
Re: active sync at startup again (not from auto time)
can you walk me through it please..
i have dotfreds task manager.. i am in Notifications... i see NO instances of active sync in notifications... i dont know what you are talking about regarding 3 1 thanks for posting! pj |

Re: active sync at startup again (not from auto time)
This is a previous post from another member. It does work with any
PPC device. I just did this with my Touch that has the 6.1 upgrade on it and it worked. I've now used this for the last several Windows smart phones I have owned. My best friend had a Moto q that was horrible on battery life and after doing this it tripled the battery life. With the touch I probably only gained a 30% increase in battery life. However any increased battery life and no longer having Active Sync annoy you is worth it. Good luck.:headbang: ActiveSync 4.0 turns on automatically There were several posts indicating ActiveSync turns on by itself when the Axim is not cradled and eventually drains the battery. It never happens to me. Circumvention provided by Invid: Disabling automatic syncing (and activesync startup) did. The new activesync is a dog, even worse than it was on WM2003SE and makes my x50v almost useless while running. I will list the steps to disable it. Note that you will still be able to sync, but AS will no longer start up on it's own. 1) Start up AS on your x50. 2) Tap the menu tab/soft key and tap "Add Server Source" 3) Configure a server source with a dummy IP address, user id, password and domain name; these do not have to be real 4) Once configured you should have another sync source show up on your main AS screen...continue on. 5) Tap the menu soft key again and you should see that the sync schedule option is no longer greyed out. 6) Change your schedule from a timed automatic start of AS to manual under both fields 7) If you try to sync now, AS will try to contact your imaginary exchange server and that will take forever until it times out, so you can now delete the exchange server from your list of sync sources. Your changes to the sync schedule will remain and will survive soft resets too. If you have a switcher app running (like vbar) you will find that when you close AS it will now stay closed and you should see a corresponding increase in speed. __________________ |
