Can i modify a premade rom with PPC Kitchen

I really like someone's rom on here, but it's "lite" and i would like to add some more apps, would i be able to somehow open it up with ppc kitchen and change the things i wanted to add?

Read my tutorial in my sig on Adding/Removing Programs. This will show you how to do this with Dogguy's kitchen.

Once you have it down and you decompile the ROM, check to see if "..\SYS\Metadata\User.hv" exists in your kitchen. If it does, then read my tutorial again, You can proceed. If it's not there, then the ROM was built with the PPCKitchen and you cannot do what you want. And you can't really use the PPCKitchen to modify a rom, only build new ones....

You really don't need to modify the ROM, in order to add some personal applications. I use Dan's "lite" version, and simply added in a few cabs and registry tweaks......works great.

short answer: for some its possible. Long answer: some or most cant be done because the chef who built the rom most likely used his own methods and possibly included programs and settings that buildos doesnt have or support. I know cabs can be added pretty easily to a subfolder for install but what about programs with set

Most of that was found over at xda-developers.com. There are plenty here that will help you build a rom of your own. Name your components and I can see what I can do to help, but most of the components are in the ppckitchen's toolbox.

Gee whiz.....if there's that much that you don't care for, then why use it? Sorry.....I was just trying to be helpful.
