Re: true GPS

Personally I use TomTom 7, which suites my needs perfectly thus far. It has pretty much the same features the stand alone unit has, plus a 30 day trail on extra features like weather, POI, etc..(unlimited data plan required).

Cost for TomTom 7 for my touch. $0 if you do a little searching.

gpslauncher + TT7 = no need to prime the builtin gps

Re: true GPS

TomTom 7 is a pirated piece of software. You can find it on some BitTorrent sites. I got hit by a trojan when I was surfing around some of those sites so I've quit even looking. BTW, even my McAfee wasn't able to kill that Trojan, it pretended to be an antivirus program wanting to "clean" my PC. Luckily, Staples had a sale on Windows Live OneCare anti-virus firewall, and it cleaned the trojan immediately.
And another thing with some of these bittorrent sites...they'll invite you on for $5 using a credit card, and then they'll bill another $30 a month after that. So watch out...never give out credit card info to those bittorrent sites.

Re: true GPS

Live Search is what works for me as of right now.

If I was going to pay for Navigation software I would probably go with Google Navigator (4.1 now???). It's supposedly insane better than Google Maps.

Re: true GPS

I have Nav4All installed and it does a good job. Turn by turn voice directions, pretty extensive menu and user options, and lane guidance is a plus too from a free GPS program(with the exception of data). Only downside on the Touch is the pain entering addresses. I found the easiest solution for quick address entry to be to pull up the location with Live Search, add it to your contacts, and enter it into the Nav4All app that way.

There's some decent apps out there if you look around. Nav4All has been handy for me when I really need a GPS. Read up a little on this site and others and maybe try a few to find what suits you best. Some of the paid apps will give you a try b4 you buy option also.
