slower than hell?
 

Do you guys have problems when you are getting a new email, or text message, (or other times for seemingly no reason,) where your Vogue slows to a crawl? I have this happen all the damn time, and the keyboard will even miss my input... I have to type really slow for it to recognize it...

I have tried every ROM under the sun, and the problem persists...

Usually I just sit and wait, and I end up getting an email or a text... but it's really aggrevating...

It's this a CPU limitation of the Touch/Vogue? If so, I really hope the Diamond and Touch Pro do not have this problem.

This happens to me as well. It seems that the data connection is a higher priority than anything else, so as it is downloading data, performance everywhere else suffers.

my vogue slows to a crawl where I have to soft reset it normally when my msn is syncing.

Now mine is terrible when I run palringo. It makes it nearly impossible to type...

are you all running stock ROMs? i have never experienced this but i have also never run a stock ROM on my touch. i have my custom ROM running perfectly on my phone. i really dont see this issue unless you have installed quit a few programs even if you uninstalled them you still have traces of some on your registry.

I've run nearly every custom ROM that has ever existed... I only used the stock ROM for a few weeks...

This problem doesn't seem to be about the ROM--it seems to be about the data connection. Any time my phone checks for email, it slows to a crawl. I have to just sit and wait it out.

If I tell it to download an attachment, and download my emails, it is pretty laggy during that too.

I just think it's a limitation of the hardware... right now I'm running DH's 2.9.6

I know his ROM i havent ran it becuase i make my own but he uses a trusty base. i have 3 email check every hour on the hour and i never notice a difference. also i am kind of a power texter i normally text about 5000 texts a month and im always on my phone till i get home and can get on my laptop. i live out where i bounce between Roaming and 1x and have never had performance issues. im not quite sure why you are having issues how long have you been running your ROM.

I have never had a slowness issue and I am (currently) running a stock rom. Palringo works great for me, I have two email accounts (one push, one pull) and don't see any slowness.

What other applications do you guys have installed? My tendency would be to think it is something app based if the roms are the same and the problem is hit or miss with Vogue owners.

I never run any other applications. The main slow-down I am referring to isn't even Palringo--although it does seem to slow things down.

Anytime I get a push email, or my phone checks on a scheduled interval, the phone becomes a great deal less-responsive. I'd estimate 50% slower. This makes screen taps not register unless I hold it for longer, like 300ms instead of 50-100ms. In my favorite keyboard, PCMKeyboard, this means I have to type only one letter per every 1.5 seconds or so, otherwise it doesn't register my keypress. Very annoying.

I have experienced this problem on four different Vogues, and on about 30-40 ROMs, some official, and most not.

Are you guys seriously saying that if you are typing a text message, and you get an INCOMING text message, that your phone does not slow down AT ALL? For me, on each and every phone, (I think I've seen it on my friends 6700, and a few WM smartphones as well,) but the phone nearly locks up, right before the phone alerts you of a text message...

I've gotten used to it mostly, and I just stop typing until I get the alert. This usually only takes a few seconds, then I can dismiss the alert.

My latest problem seems to be with Palringo, or maybe it's DH's 2.9.6 version--but I get slowdowns for seemingly no reason. It could be the Sprint Mobile Email client checking mail or something, (but I thought it was text-based.)

I'm not sure about the latter slowdown issues, but I sure as hell know that when my phone gets a text or email, it slows way the hell down...

I think it is the data connection as previously mentioned. It seems to take a huge priority over everything else.

I'll be first in line to get the Touch Pro... I had fun with my Vogue, but I think it's just a tad too slow for me. I like all the visual goodies, (a reason why I chose DH's ROM,) and I don't think the Vogue CPU can handle that, especially with no real video drivers...
