Main Settings Shortcut???

Hey all,

I have read and read and read and can not find out how to make a .lnk for the main settings panel. I have read the thread on xda "list of lnks" but it does not have an explanation as to how to launch the main panel, just how to launch various specific control panel options. I want to make a .lnk (shortcut) that will do the same thing as tapping start menu/settings.

In WM 6.0 there was a file called htcsettings.exe that accomplished this but that file is no longer present in 6.1. I went and extracted it out of an old ROM and copied it to my touch, and it actually launches the main settings panel when I run it but there is a problem. When the settings panel opens up, it only has the stock settings icons. So if you have installed nueLED or SIPchange, etc... those options are not present when you run htcsettings.exe?? I can then hit start menu/settings and they are there so something changed from 6.0 to 6.1??

Looking forward to an answer...

Thanks!

Re: Main Settings Shortcut???

Hey Jim,

Thanks! That works almost perfect. The only only thing missing is the "Enlarge Start Menu" setting in the first tab (personal), but nueLED, SIPchange, MS VoiceCommand, etc... are all there

What is different about this settings.exe that you sent compared to the htcsettings.exe I extracted from the 6.0 Sprint ROM? Do you know how to write code and did you just edit the code in the program or something? I'm not a programmer so I would have no clue how to alter it further.

Not a big deal though as once I have set this particular setting the first time I really have no need to edit it again. I'm just curious and have been on a mission to figure it out. I tried making shortcuts via the process described on xda (21#,ctpnl cplmain.cpl.......) and leaving stuff out to try to get the main panel to launch but had no luck. I would think there is a set/string of numbers that Windows would recognize to launch the full panel, I just have no clue what it is. My guess is that if I knew the proper numbers for such a string then Windows would somehow keep up with any further additions to the settings tabs and they would all be there.

Anyway, thanks for this because it is like I said almost perferct for my purpose of putting a quicklaunch settings option on my HTC Home!!
