HELP? Please!!!
 

i bought a sprint htc touch on ebay and flashed the alltel software on it. i managed to finally get it activated on my account and i can do everything, data, texting, calling, it all works. the only thing wrong, which is a decently big thing, is that above the time on the today screen, it still says "Sprint PCS" instead of the much more preferred "Alltel". i know that the device is definitely connected to the sprint towers and that means i am roaming pretty much all of the time...if anyone could help me out with how to tweak the settings to make it connect to the alltel towers, i would be truley thankful. i want this beautiful device working to its full potential! thanks in advance

i would suggest a hard reset then try installing the alltel carrier cab found here

ok but if you flashed to the latest alltel rom it should not have said sprint after the flash...it would have shown alltel you cant just flash the rom you have to flash the alltel radio too

i flashed the new alltel rev a rom which has the new radio...so im not really sure what i could do...i was thinking there might be some values in epst that i could change to fix this, but i couldnt find anything online

yeah, the first time i tried the cab, i didnt reset it because today i just reflashed the rom to see if it would help. i just did a hard reset and installed the cab, and no results....im clueless here, and i am decently experienced with pocket pc's

Only thing i can think of is a mort script floating around the forums called 'personalizer' you can have it say whatever you want with it, be it Alltell, or Leukay's Phone...

thanks for the thought, but the problem is its actually using the sprint towers instead of alltel's so im roaming all the time

try going to a speedtest site or some site that will tell you your ISP from your phones internet, if you are truly roaming then it should say Sprint PCS... otherwise it should tell you Alltel. another way you can try this is by dialing an (out of area) phone numbeer without the area code, it should give you an error from sprint if you're roaming... thats what works for me when roaming
