Relocking with new Sprint ROM

Ok, I've tried to read everything, and wanted to make sure I get this right.

I have the 2.31 SPL loaded on my phone, if I want to put it back to normal I need to:

1. Install the 0.40 SPL unlocker.
2. Flash the 3.03.651.4 Signed ROM.

Correct?

Re: Relocking with new Sprint ROM

No...
That wont work
Ok heres why... The 2.31 SPL is NOT overwritable so that means when you flash a ROM it wont over write the SPL so you dont have to keep unlocking every time you want to flash a custom ROM(kind of nice) ok the bad part.. That means it cant be unlocked... Soo... the only way to unlock is to downgrade the SPL to 0.40 which IS overwritable and then flash a NON gps ROM... Which will overwrite the SPL but there are dangers in doing this.. Then you just flash back to the 3.03 ROM from Sprint..

Here this thread might help
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=26082

PLEASE do not go off what im saying read up first.. I might be incorrect and I dont want you to brick your phone if I am

Lets see what other people have to say also...

I believe you are correct in what you said. 2.31 is for 3.xx roms, and 0.40
is for 1.xx roms. If it says 2.31 coke then you can flash the 3.03 rom., and enjoy REV-A and GPS.

Ok I have posted this numerous times.....and I'll make it very very easy

1. Flash Stock ROM no matter what the SPL
2. Flash CoKe 0.40
3. Re-Flash the Stock (This locks it)
4. Flash the Official ROM

Thats what i said except i didnt say to flash the stock first... or i mean the official .. you cant flash the official over the 2.31 so it would be the official

Yes that would work. Any exe rom with an SPL will overwrite the 0.40 and you can load that unlocker from any WM rom with activesync

I tried steps similar to that at first, but when I flashed the stock ROM over coke 2.31, it would crap out.

Anyways, I got it fixed. Basically did what I said above.

I had Dharvey's Vista ROM on there, and it was giving me issues, so I installed OMJ's minimalist rom, then flashed coke 0.40, then the stock ROM.

Oddly, at about 29% thru the first time of flashing the stock ROM, it crapped out and gave an error 264. I rebooted and then it flashed like a champ.

That's exactly correct. That's what I did and it worked like a charm. Don't believe all the misinformation that people are giving!
