Problems with e-mail on xv6900

So, I set up my gmail account through start>messaging but for some reason, my inbox doesn't show any messages, and I never receive any messages.
It's almost as if it doesn't work at all, but I can send emails, so I know that it is working. Anyone know anything about why this might not be working?

are you setting it up as imap or pop3?

try deleting and using imap settings
