I fixed it!
I had a Sprint Touch that had that oh so fashionable red green blue and white screen on it. I called HTC and Sprint. HTC told me that I needed to try to install the ROM update from a computer with XP. Something in Vista messes with the installation. Guess what! It works. I didn't have to do any cracks or anything and it totally fixed it. It was kinda like Christmas and my birthday all in one. Just thought ya'll might want to know that this really does work.

Re: I fixed it!
Congrats! Not really a surprise about Vista, however. Doesn't seem to play well with much of anything.

Fixed my phone like 3 times by flashing the stock ROM using Vista Is it SP1 that messes it up? I dont use SP1 it freezes for me |
Re: I fixed it!
It might be. I have SP1 installed. HTC pretty much said it was a known problem with Vista. It installed perfectly when I installed it from XP.

Re: I fixed it!
I chose to use Vista.. My comp is good enough that it runs it without problems so I chose it because I got tired of XP and wanted a change ... I am running Vista Ultimate so I have a lot of things I can do.. I have thought about going back to XP but I have used about 150gb of my 250gb hard drive and I dont want to back all that up.

Re: I fixed it!
Vista, has no problems all the bashing on Vista when 99% of the time the problem is either PEBKAC, configurations of VIsta, or software incompatability which is expected with any new software. I have been running VIsta since Alpha and now with SP1. I have no problems with 32 or 64bit versions. I also have no problems flashing from Vista I had to do some configurations but it works fine.

Re: I fixed it!
Been running Vista since it came out, no problem at all with any rom upgrades :)

Re: I fixed it!
Maybe it is because it is on a laptop? The XP I used was a desktop. I have no idea if that makes a difference.
|
Re: I fixed it!
Yeah the bashing on Vista is just people who dont want to take the time with it.. It really is a nice operating system if you actually try
|
Re: I fixed it!
Keep in mind that Vista had to re-release a 2nd generation of the OS because of all the defects so for some people, like me, stuck with the 1st Gen it sucks.

Re: I fixed it!
I'm running Vista SP1 on my laptop and have never had trouble with flashing ROMs on my phone with it. It works just as good as my gf's laptop with XP.
About the Vista bashing, I used to bash it too. I was in the beta program and started with the 64 bit Vista, which was a bit frustrating because there were no drivers for any of the things I really needed. I switched to the 32 bit and it was ok, but after the official release (with SP1) came out, I have not had one single gripe about Vista at all. I actually like it a lot better than XP. The same thing happened when XP came out. Everyone bashed it, now they swear by it. People will swear by Vista when the next OS comes out from MS. lol |
Re: I fixed it!
Vista did not release a second gen it is a service pack, which all microsoft os's have since nt win 95 officialy called a SP starting with NT 4.0. Every large software development has to have updates released because there is always bugs in them.

Re: I fixed it!
I have had no probs with Vista either....unlocked and then flashed the phone 3 times now.
I do remember reading somewhere on here though that you may have to right-click and "Run as Administrator" with Vista. I don't know if that has to do with permissions or whatever, but perhaps that would work out for you next time. |
Re: I fixed it!
Hmm... I want to try sp1 again but last time i had weird freezes and then uninstalled it and it worked fine again...
i sitll have a copy of xp home edition if i want to use it :):) |
Re: I fixed it!
Hey Dette..... I downloaded you ultimate titan ROM.... Im new to this whole flashing thing, I was wondering if I could get play by play directions on how to do this. Thanks, anything you can give me would be greatly appreciated. By the way, I updated my rom from the HTC website and can not get my GPS to work, I was hoping your ROM would be a fix. Thanks..
P.S. I have Sprint by the way. |

Re: I fixed it!
In redgards to the OP,
I am having the same trouble, i just downloaded everything to update to the new 3+ radio on my touch, and i got the RUU up and running and everything synced with my Vista laptop and i got an error, It wouldnt upload the new rom to my phone and said that it was the wrong RUU for my phone. I am also stuck at the tricolor screen. After reading the first post on this thread i decided to run it on my home pc with windows XP and the phone is accepting the new rom as i type. I dont mind using vista but just little things like these make me want to update my home pc and just use xp all the time and leave the vista laptop for entertainment only. Just wanted to say im glad you posted! my phone is now at 83% and im really glad its working! |
